We welcome applications from candidates interested in either full-time or part-time employment.This position is ideal for an experienced art educator or practicing artist who enjoys mentoring motivated high school students. A major focus of this role is helping students build exceptional portfolios for admission to competitive colleges, universities, and art schools.Responsibilities<ul><li>Teach high school visual arts courses</li><li>Develop engaging, project-based lessons that foster creativity and technical growth</li><li>Introduce students to a variety of artistic media, techniques, and artistic movements</li><li>Provide individualized instruction based on each student&rsquo;s interests and artistic goals</li><li>Guide students through the creative process from concept to finished work</li><li>Organize student exhibitions and showcases</li><li>Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio environment</li></ul>College Portfolio DevelopmentOne of the most important responsibilities of this position is mentoring students through the college portfolio process.The successful candidate will:<ul><li>Help students develop competitive portfolios for admission to leading colleges, universities, and art schools</li><li>Mentor students pursuing majors in Fine Arts, Architecture, Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Photography, Interior Design, and related creative fields</li><li>Provide individualized critiques and portfolio reviews</li><li>Assist students in selecting, refining, and presenting their strongest work</li><li>Help students prepare artist statements and portfolio presentations</li><li>Stay informed about portfolio expectations and admissions requirements at competitive art and design programs</li></ul>Preferred Areas of ExpertiseExperience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:<ul><li>Drawing</li><li>Painting</li><li>Sculpture</li><li>Ceramics</li><li>Mixed Media</li><li>Photography</li><li>Digital Art</li><li>Graphic Design</li><li>Illustration</li><li>Animation</li><li>AP Art and Design</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Graphic Design, Design, or a related field</li><li>Teaching experience preferred</li><li>Strong artistic portfolio</li><li>Excellent communication and mentoring skills</li><li>Passion for inspiring young artists</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience preparing students for college portfolio reviews and admissions</li><li>Experience teaching AP Art and Design</li><li>Professional experience as a practicing artist, designer, illustrator, photographer, architect, or creative professional</li><li>Experience working with international students</li></ul>Dorm Parent Opportunity (Full-Time Candidates)Full-time applicants interested in serving as a Dorm Parent are strongly encouraged to apply.Dorm parents live on campus and play an important role in mentoring students outside the classroom while helping create a safe, supportive, and engaging residential community.
