Public Affairs and Strategic Communication Specialist
We're seeking a Public Affairs and Strategic Communications Specialist to join our collaborative team. In this role, you'll help shape our organization's voice and messaging while supporting critical communication needs across diverse audiences. This position supports DISA J9 Hosting and Commute (HaC) Portfolio Management Office&rsquo;s Marketing Communication (MARCOM) Department, you&rsquo;ll have tasks aimed at managing and enhancing the HaC&rsquo;s public image, promoting effective communication and facilitating information exchange with internal and external stakeholders. It involves strategic planning, messaging, and engagement to ensure clear and consistent communication, build positive relationships, and convey accurate information to the public, media, employees, and other relevant parties. 
Required Experience:<ul><li>
Develop inclusive branding and messaging strategies that resonate with diverse audiences</li><li>
Create accessible communication materials following Associated Press (AP) Stylebook guidelines for both internal and external stakeholders</li><li>
Create and maintain visual brand identity elements and ensure proper implementation across all platforms</li><li>
Ensure all digital content adheres to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance standards to make information accessible to people of all abilities</li><li>
Facilitate engagements and events, including planning, coordination, and execution with accessibility considerations</li><li>
Prepare timely, accurate, and inclusive responses to media inquiries while maintaining positive relationships with the press</li><li>
Coordinate with Department of Defense (DoD) public affairs to ensure alignment and compliance with policies and procedures</li><li>
Create and maintain well-organized historical archives of messaging and communication materials</li><li>
Conduct market research and analysis to inform communication strategies and identify opportunities for improvement</li><li>
Develop and execute inclusive social media strategies to enhance online presence and engagement</li><li>
Design and produce visual storytelling content for social media and web platforms using graphics, animations, and other visual elements</li><li>
Coordinate crisis communication efforts, providing clear, accessible, and effective messaging during emergencies</li><li>
Measure and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies, providing insights and recommendations for improvement</li></ul> 
Required Qualifications<ul><li>
U.S. citizenship</li><li>
Current DoD Secret clearance</li><li>
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or related field</li><li>
At least 3 years of related experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or a similar role</li><li>
Strong knowledge of AP Stylebook guidelines and professional communications standards</li><li>
Understanding of design principles and typography with ability to create visually appealing materials that maintain brand consistency</li><li>
Experience with implementing accessibility features in designed materials</li><li>
Demonstrated project management skills with ability to scope efforts, create plans, and meet deadlines</li></ul>
Tech Requirements: US Web Design, Microsoft Suite, Jira, SharePoint</div>
