Develops and implements individualized care plans based on physician orders, nursing judgment, and patient/family input.</li><li>
Administers medications and treatments safely and accurately, following hospital policies and standards.</li><li>
Monitors patient responses to interventions and updates the plan of care accordingly.</li><li>
Provides pre- and post-operative care, including wound management, pain control, and mobility support.</li><li>
Promotes early ambulation, discharge readiness, and patient education to support recovery and prevent complications.</li><li>
Responds to emergencies promptly, initiating appropriate interventions such as CPR or rapid response activation.</li><li><b>
Patient Education and Advocacy</b></li></ul><ul><li>
Educates patients and families about diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, and health maintenance.</li><li>
Advocates for patient preferences, safety, and dignity throughout the continuum of care.</li><li>
Encourages patient participation in care decisions to promote independence and understanding.</li><li><b>

Works collaboratively with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.</li><li>
Communicates effectively during handoffs, using structured tools such as ISHAPED or SBAR.</li><li>

Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).</li><li><b>

Education: </b>Graduate of state board School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi-state licensure</div><div><b>
Experience: </b>Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.

Additionally, under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the patient care associate III performs various duties to assist in the care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. These duties include, but are not limited to, bathing, mouth care, ambulation assistance, toilet assistance, feeding, measuring vital signs and blood glucose, transporting, ECG and phlebotomy.</i></div>

Acts as collaborative member of the clinical team in providing continuity of and quality patient care. Initiates patient care, gathers vital signs, prepares patient and exam room for procedures, and collects specimens. Provides patient education and support as needed to assist physician, patient and family. Assists coworkers and draws blood as needed.</div>
Qualifications:
<div><b>
Education required: </b>High school diploma or GED.</div><div><b>
Education preferred:</b> Completion of certified medical assistant program, completion of the Huntsville Hospital Patient Care Tech program or CNA.</div><div><b>
License, Certification and/or Registration:</b> CNA or LPN Preferred. BLS must be received within the orientation period.<br>
<b>Experience: </b>Phlebotomy experience preferred. Minimum of one year experience working in a clinic setting preferred.<br>
<b>Additional Skills/Abilities: </b>Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to use computer, fax machine and copy machine. Must be detail oriented and work well in a team environment</div>
