Rate: $75/hr (1099 contract)Duration of contract: Jan 2026 - June 2027, with possibility of extensionLocation: Carson City, NV (100 % onsite; local candidates only)Required Qualifications (candidates must meet/exceed all of these):<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Transportation Planning, or a related field.</li><li>3+ years of experience in GIS development, with at least 1&ndash;2 years using ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 or newer.</li><li>Proficiency with:</li><li>ArcGIS Experience Builder</li><li>ArcGIS Dashboards</li><li>ArcGIS Server and Portal (11.1+)</li><li>ArcGIS Pro (for service publishing and geoprocessing)</li><li>ArcGIS API for JavaScript (v4.x)</li><li>Python (ArcPy and ArcGIS API for Python)</li><li>Experience administering ArcGIS Enterprise infrastructure, including federated servers, data stores, authentication, and content/user management.</li><li>Experience developing and deploying applications for internal enterprise users and the public.</li><li>Strong understanding of federated ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, content management, and security roles.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Experience working in a state or local Department of Transportation or similar public sector environment.</li><li>Familiarity with linear referencing systems (LRS), transportation asset management, or roadway networks.</li><li>Experience with DevOps tools.</li><li>Esri Technical Certification (e.g., Enterprise Administration, Web Application Developer) or GISP.</li></ul>Position Information:The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking an experienced GIS Developer to design, develop, administer, and support custom GIS applications using ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x and above. This role focuses on delivering tailored geospatial solutions for internal NDOT business units, such as roadway systems, maintenance operations, traffic systems, and traffic safety.You&rsquo;ll be a key technical resource supporting enterprise GIS modernization efforts, leveraging the latest capabilities of ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x, including Experience Builder, Dashboards, ArcGIS Pro&ndash;based workflows, federated services, and administration of the underlying GIS infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Design, develop, and deploy custom web GIS applications using ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x components, including:</li><li>Portal for ArcGIS</li><li>ArcGIS Server (federated)</li><li>Experience Builder (Developer Edition and hosted)</li><li>ArcGIS Dashboards</li><li>Administer ArcGIS Enterprise infrastructure, including Portal, ArcGIS Server sites, hosting servers, data stores, user/role management, content governance, security configuration, and environment monitoring.</li><li>Develop interactive tools and applications to support NDOT programs such as:</li><li>Roadway asset management and inventory tracking</li><li>Maintenance activity monitoring</li><li>Traffic operations and incident mapping</li><li>Project planning and visualization</li><li>Build and manage scalable and secure web services (map, feature, and geoprocessing) using ArcGIS Server 11.x+.</li><li>Automate GIS workflows and service publishing using Python (ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python) and scheduled tasks.</li><li>Integrate GIS applications with enterprise data systems (e.g., asset management, maintenance, project databases).</li><li>Customize and extend applications using ArcGIS API for JavaScript (v4.x) and Experience Builder widgets.</li><li>Collaborate with NDOT engineers, planners, analysts, cartographers, and IT teams to gather requirements and implement solutions.</li><li>Optimize performance of spatial services and applications; ensure adherence to state IT and data governance standards.</li><li>Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise GIS environments, including service performance, system health, and infrastructure configurations across development, test, and production environments.</li><li>Document workflows, configurations, and provide technical support and training to end users.</li><li>Stay current with Esri advancements and new features in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x to inform continuous improvement.</li></ul>Pay: $75.00 per hourExpected hours: 40.0 per weekWork Location: In person
