We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Quality Director to revitalize and upscale the Quality Management System (QMS) in our coatings and underlayments manufacturing business. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across 9 manufacturing facilities located throughout North America. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coatings, chemical or building materials manufacturing with a proven track record of QMS implementation or overhaul. The job will require travel (up to 75%) to understand the requirements at our individual sites and build-out and maintain the QMS processes.

Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Lead and Overhaul the QMS: Evaluate the current Quality Management System and spearhead the design and implementation of a modernized QMS system that will meet the market and regulatory requirements of our business.</li><li>
Quality Strategy Development: Define and drive a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with operational and customer requirements.</li><li>
Regulatory and Compliance Management: Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer specifications.</li><li>
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action: Oversee investigation and resolution of quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, FMEA).</li><li>
Audits and Certifications: Plan and lead internal and external audits; maintain certifications such as ISO 9001 or others relevant to our manufacturing operations.</li><li>
Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with R&amp;D, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Care to integrate quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.</li><li>
Metrics and Reporting: Develop and report on KPIs related to product quality, defect rates, customer complaints, and audit findings.</li><li>
Training and Development: Build a quality-focused culture through training programs, leadership engagement, and team development.</li><li>
Establish QC protocols throughout our plant network to support in-process and finished goods spec testing</li><li>
Identify and train QC resources in each plant</li><li>
As requested, provide input to plant sites toward manufacturing efficiency improvements</li><li>
Direct and dotted-line personnel influence and management skills</li></ul> 
Job qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (Master&rsquo;s degree preferred).</li><li>
Minimum 10 years of experience in quality roles within manufacturing, preferably in the coatings, chemicals, or related industries.</li><li>
Experience leading QMS development or transformation projects; ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 implementation experience necessary.</li><li>
Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, CAPA, FMEA).</li><li>
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.</li><li>
Willingness &amp; ability to engage directly with our plant teams.</li><li>
Proficient in quality systems software and Microsoft Office Suite.</li></ul> 
Preferred certifications:<ul><li>
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) &ndash; ASQ preferred.</li><li>
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.</li></ul>
