Position: Power Plant Operator 1Job Location: near Eden, IdahoWage: $29.68 &ndash; $37.09 per hour DOEHours: 40 hours per weekNOTE: Employees in this position (Nonexempt) are eligible for annual incentive awards (percentage of salary up to 10%) based on individual and company performanceJob DescriptionIda-West Energy Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDACORP, Inc., operates nine jointly-owned hydroelectric power generation facilities. Ida-West Energy is seeking an on-site (no opportunity for remote-work) full-time Power Plant Operator 1 to work in our Wilson Lake Hydroelectric plant outside of Eden, Idaho. Under general direction and acting on own initiative and direction, the Power Plant Operator 1 will learn how to operate and maintain a hydroelectric plant and associated equipment, including being responsible for providing safe and efficient hydroelectric plant operations and performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting plant equipment problems. Examples of duties include:&middot; Operates and maintains turbines, generators, pumps, and other auxiliary plant equipment&middot; Operates and maintains intakes, spillways, canals, trash racks, gates, and other related power plant equipment&middot; Operates control systems and monitors power plant equipment&middot; Takes readings of plant processes and maintaining daily records&middot; Responds to plant emergencies; troubleshoots plant equipment and takes corrective action&middot; Designs, fabricates, assembles, installs, and performs modifications to equipment&middot; Maintains compliance with company policies and procedures&middot; Performs work safely and brings safety hazards to attention of management&middot; Arranges for and coordinates contract work&middot; Identifies needed replacement parts and submits purchase requisition&middot; Understands cost related to individual performance&middot; Perform normal hydro plant housekeepingRequired SkillsKnowledge of:&middot; Basic electricity&middot; Mechanical and electrical operation&middot; Troubleshooting and repair of equipmentSkills in:&middot; Technical aptitude for basic electrical and mechanical principals&middot; Basic use of personal computers&middot; Demonstrated skills required in adaptability, effective interpersonal communication, contributing to team success, decision making, establish positive working relationships, initiating action, managing work (including time management), quality orientation and safety awarenessAbility to:&middot; Maintain high productivity with minimal supervision&middot; Respond to emergencies in excess of normal working hours&middot; Comply with on-call requirements (availability, fit for duty, etc.)Minimum RequirementsEducation:&middot; High school diploma or equivalentPrefero Trade school or technical training schoolo Experience with electrical equipment, electrical controls and troubleshooting, mechanics, equipment operation, welding and pipefittingLicenses/Certifications:&middot; Valid driver's licenseAdditional Requirements&middot; Must be at least 18 years of age&middot; Workweek will include working alternating weekends during generating season&middot; Position requires after hours on-call responsivities, on a rotating basis with the other operator&middot; Highly preferred to live within 30 minutes of the plant to respond to plant emergenciesPhysical AbilityPerform heavy manual labor; work outdoors in inclement weather.
