 The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) Campus Security Officer maintains a safe and secure environment for ICOM faculty, staff, students and guests; protects ICOM premises and assets; maintains a high visibility presence; and prevents all illegal and inappropriate actions. The Campus Security Officer is an armed position, requiring excellent decision-making skills and a thorough understanding of the use of force, as well as the skills and dexterity to operate firearms.

 Applicants must be able to work the following schedule, Saturday &amp; Sunday (7:30am-3:30pm) &amp; Monday (3:30pm-11:30pm)**

 </ul>
 
 Position Duties &amp; Responsibilities:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Protect College property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor premises for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances
 </li>
 <li>
 Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property
 </li>
 <li>
 Report in detail any suspicious or unusual incidents
 </li>
 <li>
 Conduct random and regular patrols of building and property perimeter
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor and control access at building entrances
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor campus security video surveillance system for unlawful or inappropriate behavior
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordinate with Idaho State University Public Safety, Meridian Police Department, and other local first response agencies as necessary to maintain campus safety
 </li>
 <li>
 Conduct foot patrols of parking areas to ensure vehicles display appropriate parking permits and enforce parking violations in accordance with Idaho State Code
 </li>
 <li>
 Promote and maintain a positive working relationship with ICOM students and staff
 </li>
 <li>
 Be reasonably available to cover other shifts as needed
 </li>
 <li>
 Comply with ICOM policies and procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs other related duties, as assigned

 Requirements
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Graduate of a U.S. police training academy or police training academy equivalent
 </li>
 <li>
 Retired law enforcement officer with a minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience and the ability to qualify for a CCW under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (18 USC 926C(c))
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to pass FBI and state of Idaho fingerprint background check
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong working knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and enforcement procedures
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent surveillance and observation skills
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 </li>
 <li>
 Tech-savvy with experience in surveillance systems
 </li>
 <li>
 Physically able to conduct foot patrols on uneven surfaces, slick or wet surfaces, stairs, rough terrain, and in all weather conditions
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
 </li>
 <li>
 Integrity and professionalism
 </li>
 <li>
 Display competence with issued firearm and maintain a minimum passing score during firearm qualification
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Hourly Range:
 
 $21 p/h
