Position Summary: 
Impact Fire Services is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to create designs, submittals, and permit drawings for local upfits, tenant improvements and new construction. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong grasp of Building Codes, NFPA standards, permitting processes, and fire sprinkler system layouts. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, sales and field teams to ensure code-compliant designs and smooth project execution.
 Up to a $10,000 Sign-On-Bonus based on experience.
 
Key Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Design and layout fire sprinkler systems for local renovations, upfits, and new construction projects.</li>
<li>Survey existing systems and replicate them in CAD software.</li>
<li>Create submittal and permit drawings, ensuring compliance with NFPA codes, local regulations, and AHJ requirements.</li>
<li>Generate material lists and equipment specifications based on design drawings.</li>
<li>Perform hydraulic calculations and verify system performance criteria.</li>
<li>Coordinate designs with other trades.</li>
<li>Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure smooth permitting and approval processes.</li>
<li>Support field teams with design clarifications, adjustments, and small sketches as needed.</li>
<li>Assist in estimating and reviewing project costs based on design requirements.</li>
<li>Participate in pre-submittal meetings, project reviews, and job cost discussions.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate project documentation for company records and compliance purposes.</li>
<li>Communicate design challenges, project schedules, and updates to customers and internal teams.</li>
</ul>
Job Requirements: 
<ul>
<li>NICET Level II or higher in Fire Sprinkler Layout (or ability to obtain).</li>
<li>Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD or AutoSprink design software.</li>
<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (MS Word, Outlook, Excel etc).</li>
<li>Familiarity with NFPA 13, 14, 20, and applicable building codes.</li>
<li>Ability to create permit-ready submittal drawings.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li>
<li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.</li>
<li>Ability to visit job sites and accurately survey existing systems.</li>
<li>Ability to coordinate installation with field crews and other trades.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Experience working with local fire marshals and permitting offices.</li>
<li>Prior field experience in fire sprinkler installation or inspections is recommended.</li>
<li>Experience with BIM software such as Navisworks</li>
</ul>
Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
