The Functional Safety Engineer will ensure that all manufacturing and automation equipment complies with company's safety standards and international functional safety requirements. This position will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and vendors throughout the equipment design and commissioning lifecycle to identify risks, develop safety standards, and drive continuous improvement in machinery safety.</p><p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Key Responsibilities</b></h3><ul><li><p><br>
Perform <b>risk assessments</b> in accordance with <b>ISO 12100</b></p></li><li><p><br>
Partner with engineering, operations, and equipment vendors on <b>equipment design, validation, and commissioning</b>.</p></li><li><p><br>
Develop and improve <b>equipment safety standards</b>, documentation, and compliance records.</p></li><li><p><br>
Conduct <b>equipment safety buyoffs</b> with cross-functional teams.</p></li><li><p><br>
Identify and implement <b>corrective actions</b> for continuous safety improvement.</p></li><li><p><br>
Create and deliver <b>training</b> on machinery and equipment safety practices.</p></li><li><p><br>
Support EHS teams in audits, investigations, inspections, and learning team activities.</p></li></ul><p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Requirements</b></h3><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Required Qualifications</b></h3><ul><li><p><b><br>
3&ndash;5 years</b> of experience in a <b>Functional Safety or Equipment Safety</b> engineering role.</p></li><li><p><br>
Familiarity with <b>mechanical, electrical, automation, and control system design</b>.</p></li><li><p><br>
Strong knowledge of <b>ANSI, UL, NFPA, and ISO standards</b>.</p></li><li><p><br>
Ability to interpret <b>electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic safety circuits</b> and evaluate <b>performance levels</b>.</p></li><li><p><br>
In-depth understanding of <b>electrical circuit design</b> per <b>NEC, UL 508A, and NFPA 79</b>.</p></li></ul><p></p><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Preferred Qualifications</b></h3><ul><li><p><b><br>
Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP/CFSE)</b> or <b>Certified Machine Safety Expert (CMSE)</b>.</p></li><li><p><br>
Experience in <b>battery or EV manufacturing environments</b>.</p></li><li><p><br>
Working knowledge of <b>hazardous area classifications</b>, <b>occupancy classification</b>, and <b>hazardous material inventories</b>.</p></li></ul></div><p></p>

Functional safety engineer

<div><div>The Bill of Material (BOM) Specialist works with engineering to ensure that Bill of Material milestones are met by all team members for a specific vehicle area. Through data entry, the BOM Specialist creates individual Bill of Materials for each mule or prototype vehicle in the Bill of Material database maintaining data integrity throughout the course of the build.<br>
 Additional Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:</div><ul><li><div><br>
Serve as liaison between BOM, Build Leads and Engineering as it relates to Bill of Material questions and change management</div></li><li><div><br>
Support BOM and Build Leads in the validation of content received by engineering</div></li><li><div><br>
Maintain BOM integrity with all applicable data throughout the build cycle</div></li><li><div><br>
Monitor information flow for the build and escalating issues appropriately</div></li></ul><div></div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>
Requirements</b></h3><div><b>
Basic Qualifications</b>:</div><ul><li><div><br>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree and 3+ years of experience</div></li><li><div><br>
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</div></li><li><div><br>
Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking</div></li><li><div><br>
Ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time in a dynamic, fast-paced environment</div></li><li><div><br>
