<div><div>insightsoftware is looking for a Lead UX Designer to join the newly established UX team within the Certent Equity Management (CEM) product organization. Reporting to the UX Manager, Equity, this role is responsible for owning complex workflow design, contributing to the CEM design system, and driving design quality across the platform through close partnership with Product Management and Engineering.
The Lead UX Designer brings deep expertise in interaction design and enterprise SaaS workflow complexity. This is a hands-on design leadership role responsible for translating research findings and product requirements into interaction models, validated prototypes, and production-ready design specifications, while also helping to establish the tools, standards, and practices that will govern design delivery as the team scales.
This role is about more than executing individual feature designs. It's an opportunity to shape how the organization thinks about UX delivery: contributing to discovery, helping evolve the design system, and making sure every design decision is grounded in user evidence, aligned to business goals, and achievable within engineering constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Discovery &amp; Research Partnership
<ul><li>Lead heuristic evaluations of the current CEM platform, documenting usability, accessibility, workflow, and consistency issues across core functional domains, and synthesizing findings into actionable design priorities
</li></ul><ul><li>Translate qualitative and quantitative research findings into workflow models, interaction patterns, and validated design directions
</li></ul><ul><li>Contribute to stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry sessions, and customer collaboration activities bringing a designer&rsquo;s perspective to discovery work and ensuring research translates directly into design output
</li></ul>Design System Partnership
<ul><li>Help establish, govern, and evolve the CEM design system including branded component variants, interaction patterns, accessibility standards consistently across all design output
</li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with the UX Manager and Engineering to contribute new components, patterns, and documentation to the design system as new workflows surface design needs not yet covered by existing standards
</li></ul><ul><li>Maintain design file hygiene and Figma library alignment ensuring design work is structured to support clean handoff to Engineering and reduce implementation ambiguity
</li></ul><ul><li>Participate in design system reviews providing interaction design input on component behavior, states, and accessibility as the system evolves
</li></ul>Interaction Design &amp; Prototyping
<ul><li>Own end-to-end UX design for high-complexity CEM workflows from initial concept through validated prototype to production-ready specification.
</li></ul><ul><li>Produce interaction models, annotated wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, and design specifications sufficient for engineering implementation without loss of design intent
</li></ul><ul><li>Lead iterative design reviews with Product, Engineering, and senior stakeholders communicating design rationale clearly and incorporating feedback without compromising user experience quality
</li></ul><ul><li>Participate in sprint reviews and QA walkthroughs for high-impact features, evaluating whether delivered experiences align with design intent and flagging gaps for resolution
</li></ul>Lean UX &amp; Dual-Track Delivery
<ul><li>Operate within a Lean UX model paired closely with engineering through dual-track collaboration: running design discovery ahead of delivery sprints to provide just-in-time designs that are validated before engineering commitment
</li></ul><ul><li>Define and maintain a clear MVP design scope in partnership with Product Management establishing success metrics that enable a ship-and-measure approach for well-understood, lower-risk features
</li></ul><ul><li>Contribute to post-delivery UX evaluation using application analytics to assess adoption, identify friction points, and inform the next design iteration
</li></ul><ul><li>Balance design thoroughness with delivery velocity: knowing when to invest in deeper exploration and when to move quickly with a well-reasoned, testable design hypothesis
</li></ul>AI-Assisted Design &amp; Development Enablement
<ul><li>Leverage AI prototyping tools to accelerate design exploration, concept validation, and the generation of design artifacts across the product development lifecycle
</li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with Product and Engineering to evaluate AI-generated UI and production-ready code against design system standards and accessibility requirements, ensuring output meets the CEM quality bar before release
</li></ul>Design Operations &amp; Practice Building
<ul><li>Partner with the UX Manager to establish design delivery processes, file organization standards, handoff conventions, and quality gates that support consistent, high-quality output as the team scales
</li></ul><ul><li>Contribute to the CEM design repository maintaining organized Figma libraries, component documentation, and reusable pattern documentation that reduces redundant design work across the team
</li></ul>Required Qualifications
Experience
<ul><li>8+ years of UX design experience, with progressive responsibility leading complex workflow design across enterprise SaaS applications
</li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated experience owning or making major contributions to a design system in a production SaaS environment.
</li></ul><ul><li>Proven ability to produce high-fidelity interaction designs and prototypes for dense, data-intensive enterprise applications with a portfolio demonstrating mastery of information hierarchy, workflow efficiency, and accessibility in dense, data-intensive enterprise UI contexts
</li></ul><ul><li>Experience in a Lean UX or dual-track agile delivery model, validating with users iteratively, and delivering just-in-time specifications
</li></ul><ul><li>Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product Management and Engineering, including contributing to discovery, shaping requirements, and communicating design rationale to non-design audiences
</li></ul>Technical &amp; Design Tool Proficiency
<ul><li>Expert-level Figma proficiency including component architecture, auto layout, variables, and library governance for multi-designer environments
</li></ul><ul><li>Working familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and the practical application of accessible design patterns in enterprise UI contexts
</li></ul><ul><li>Comfort with developer handoff tools and practices sufficient to collaborate directly with front-end engineers and reduce implementation ambiguity
</li></ul><ul><li>Working familiarity with a component library; sufficient to design within component constraints and collaborate meaningfully with front-end engineers on implementation tradeoffs

<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Information Science, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience considered
</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications
<ul><li>Experience designing for financial services, enterprise resource planning (ERP), or similarly complex B2B SaaS platforms where user workflows involve high-stakes data and regulatory context
</li></ul><ul><li>Experience building a design system from scratch or near-scratch in a greenfield product initiative, including defining contribution models and governance frameworks
</li></ul><ul><li>Experience using AI-assisted tools to support prototyping, user research synthesis, and design exploration, including familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling (e.g., Cursor, Lovable) or modern IDEs

Job Description:
As an Engineering Manager in Reporting/BI Engineering, you will lead two scrum teams focused on building and enhancing the financial reporting capabilities of the Certent Equity Management (CEM) platform for a large, strategic enterprise client engagement. Reporting to the Director of Reporting/BI Engineering, you will own the delivery, the people, and the client relationship across both teams.
The two teams have different structures, and you will manage them differently. One team has a Lead Engineer who owns daily technical execution for their squad &mdash; your job with that team is to hold the Lead accountable, develop them, and stay ahead of delivery risks. The other team is staffed with Sr Engineers who report directly to you &mdash; for that team, you are the daily authority on priorities, technical direction, and unblocking.
This role requires someone comfortable operating across both modes simultaneously &mdash; managing through a lead on one squad while providing hands-on direction to another. You will need to be close enough to the BI and SQL domain to be credible to engineers in both configurations, and present enough with client stakeholders to own complex financial reporting requirements at the engagement level.
The right candidate has a strong background in BI, reporting, and SQL-heavy environments, earns engineer respect through domain credibility, and has the organizational discipline and communication skills to keep complex, client-facing delivery on track across two structurally different teams. You will bring a genuine AI-first mindset and the ability to drive meaningful AI adoption &mdash; not just set targets.

</h1>Delivery Ownership &amp; Accountability
<ul><li>Own delivery outcomes across both Reporting/BI scrum teams &mdash; with accountability structures and management depth calibrated to each team&rsquo;s structure.
</li><li>For the Lead-staffed team: hold the Lead Engineer accountable for daily execution, technical quality, and team health &mdash; staying ahead of risks without micromanaging delivery.
</li><li>For the directly-managed team: provide hands-on direction on priorities, unblock engineers directly, run scrum ceremonies, and serve as the daily technical and delivery authority.
</li><li>Translate complex financial reporting requirements into structured delivery plans; actively manage priorities, surface trade-offs, and keep both teams focused on the highest-impact work.
</li><li>Communicate status clearly and fluently &mdash; accountable upward to the Director of Reporting/BI Engineering and across to QA, Platform Integrations, and Application Engineering verticals &mdash; with accurate, actionable narratives.
</li><li>Identify blockers, dependencies, and risks early across both teams; drive resolution through direct ownership or escalation.
</li></ul>Technical Domain Leadership
<ul><li>Maintain sufficient depth in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and BI tooling to engage credibly with engineers on technical decisions, query architecture, and reporting solution design across both teams.
</li><li>For the directly-managed team, provide active technical direction &mdash; reviewing approaches, resolving ambiguity, and making architectural calls at the squad level as a standing part of your role.
</li><li>Review and challenge technical approaches on behalf of delivery and platform quality &mdash; pushing back on one-off SQL solutions, advocating for reusable reporting data models, and ensuring query performance standards are met before release.
</li><li>Understand the Logi Analytics (Logi Symphony) reporting platform sufficiently to engage on capability, constraints, and solution design with your engineers and client stakeholders.
</li><li>Partner with the Director and Principal Engineers on architecture and data model decisions that have cross-team or cross-client implications.
</li></ul>AI Strategy &amp; Adoption
Champion 50% AI-authored PR targets and<ul><li> 95% AI code review adoption as organizational minimums across both teams.
</li><li>Drive meaningful AI tooling adoption &mdash; not just compliance with targets, but genuine integration of agentic development workflows (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin.AI) that improve engineering velocity and reporting quality.
</li><li>Model and advocate for AI-first engineering practices, including Spec Driven Development, within your teams and across the Reporting/BI vertical.
</li><li>Stay current on agentic development tooling and bring forward-looking recommendations to the Director of Reporting/BI Engineering.
</li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; People Management
<ul><li>Day-to-day management across both teams: Lead Engineer (one team), Sr Engineers, Engineers, and Associate Engineers across a globally distributed workforce.
</li><li>Own hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and retention across both teams; partner with the Director on headcount planning.
</li><li>Develop and grow the existing Lead Engineer &mdash; coaching on technical leadership, team management, and SQL/BI quality standards.
</li><li>Provide direct mentorship and career development to the Sr Engineers on the directly-managed team &mdash; this is a permanent structure, and developing strong Sr Engineers is how the team stays effective without a Lead layer.
</li><li>Foster a high-trust, high-accountability culture across a geographically distributed team spanning US, India, and other locations.
</li><li>Run effective management cadences &mdash; 1:1s, cross-team syncs, and retrospectives &mdash; without creating overhead that slows delivery.
</li></ul>Client Engagement &amp; Requirements Leadership
<ul><li>Engage actively and directly with client stakeholders on financial reporting requirements &mdash; asking the right questions, digging into root business problems, and challenging requests that represent one-off solutions rather than platform-generic capabilities.
</li><li>Translate complex client reporting requirements into well-scoped, sequenced delivery plans; advocate for solutions that solve the client&rsquo;s use cases while working generically across the broader CEM platform and client base.
</li><li>Partner with Product Management to ensure requirements are well-defined, properly scoped, and aligned to platform strategy before work begins.
</li><li>Build credibility with client stakeholders through delivery consistency, clear communication, and a track record of solving the right problems &mdash; not just the requested ones.
</li><li>Understand the financial reporting domain &mdash; equity compensation, financial statements, audit trails, and regulatory output &mdash; well enough to challenge requirements that don&rsquo;t make business sense.
</li></ul>Cross-Functional Alignment
<ul><li>Serve as the engineering interface for your client engagement &mdash; owning alignment with QA, Platform Integrations, and Application Engineering on dependencies, sequencing, and delivery readiness.
</li><li>Represent your teams&rsquo; priorities and progress in engineering leadership forums alongside peer Engineering Managers and Sr Engineering Managers.
</li><li>Coordinate with matrixed QA engineers to ensure test coverage, data validation standards, and release readiness are met across both teams.
</li><li>Partner with the Director of Reporting/BI Engineering on vertical-wide standards, tooling decisions, and investment sequencing.
</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Qualifications
</h1>Required
<ul><li>6+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in BI, reporting, or SQL-heavy environments, plus 2+ years in an engineering management or technical lead capacity.
</li><li>Sufficient Oracle SQL and PL/SQL depth to engage credibly on technical decisions, query architecture, and performance tradeoffs &mdash; and to provide active, standing technical direction to a team of Sr Engineers without a Lead layer.
</li><li>Demonstrated experience managing engineers directly at the IC level &mdash; setting technical direction, running ceremonies, and unblocking individual engineers. Managing only through leads is not sufficient for this role.
</li><li>Demonstrated AI-first engineering mindset &mdash; hands-on experience with agentic development tooling (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Devin.AI, or similar) and a track record of driving meaningful AI adoption within engineering teams.
</li><li>Proven ability to engage directly and credibly with client stakeholders on complex reporting requirements &mdash; asking the right questions, challenging scope, and translating business problems into engineering plans.
