Principal Responsibilities and Expectations:
System Design and Engineering<div>
You will lead the end-to-end design process for low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) equipment.</div><ul><li>
UL 891 Switchboards &amp; UL 1558 Switchgear: Designing busbar layouts, selecting circuit breakers (ACB/MCCB), and calculating short-circuit withstand ratings.</li><li>
Metal-Clad MV Switchgear: Designing for 5kV to 38kV applications, including vacuum circuit breakers, protective relaying (SEL, Multilin), and instrument transformers (CTs/VTs).</li><li>
Motor Control Centers (MCC): Integrating VFDs, soft starters, and thermal overload protection into modular designs.</li><li>
Power Skids &amp; E-Houses: Engineering integrated, prefabricated power solutions including transformers and cooling systems.</li></ul>
Technical Modeling &amp; Documentation<div>
The role requires high proficiency in industry-standard design software to create &quot;construction-ready&quot; packages.</div><ul><li>
Electrical Schematics: Utilizing EPLAN Electric P8 or AutoCAD Electrical to generate:<ul><li>
Single-line diagrams (SLD) and Three-line diagrams.</li><li>
Control schematics and wiring schedules.</li><li>
Point-to-point interconnection maps.</li></ul></li><li>
Mechanical Modeling: Using SolidWorks or AutoCAD 3D to perform:<ul><li>
Busbar Routing: Designing copper or aluminum bus systems with proper clearances for heat dissipation and dielectric strength.</li><li>
Enclosure Design: Managing spatial constraints, door swings, and cable entry/exit points.</li><li>
Thermal Management: Ensuring adequate airflow and heat loss calculations for the assembly.</li></ul></li></ul>
Regulatory Compliance &amp; Calculations<div>
You will be the technical authority on safety and performance standards.</div><ul><li>
Code Compliance: Ensuring all designs strictly adhere to NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 70E (Arc Flash safety).</li><li>
Standards Adherence: Guaranteeing equipment meets UL 891, UL 1558, UL 845 (MCCs), and IEEE C37.20.2 (Metal-Clad Switchgear).</li><li>
Engineering Analysis:<ul><li>
Short-Circuit Analysis: Calculating Available Fault Current to ensure appropriate AIC ratings.</li><li>
Arc Flash Mitigation: Designing for safety using maintenance switches, light-sensing relays, or remote racking.</li><li>
Selective Coordination: Ensuring upstream and downstream protective devices trip in the correct sequence.</li></ul></li></ul>
Technical Leadership &amp; Quality Control<div>
As a senior member of the team, you serve as the final gatekeeper for technical accuracy.</div><ul><li>
Peer Review: Conducting rigorous &quot;redline&quot; checks on junior engineers' drawings to identify errors in logic, sizing, or bill of materials (BOM).</li><li>
BOM Management: Finalizing accurate bills of materials for procurement, ensuring components are compatible and lead times align with project schedules.</li><li>
Testing Support: Drafting Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and providing remote or on-site support during primary and secondary injection testing.</li></ul>
Travel and Site Visits:<ul><li>
Maintain a presence at the Switchboard Center of Excellence in Tampa, Florida, for at least 50% of the work week.</li><li>
Travel to various production sites as required, to oversee operations (fabrication, refurbishing, remanufacturing, repair, testing, &hellip;) and provide technical support.</li></ul>
Contributing to IPS Safety and CIPS Culture:<ul><li>
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by adhering to CIPS principles and identifying best practices within the team and across locations.
</li><li>Provide training and mentorship to younger engineers and technicians.</li><li>
Actively participate in the IPS UCE tier meeting process.</li><li>
Utilize Continuous Improvement Process Solution (CIPS) tools and Processes.</li></ul>
Qualifications and Competencies:
The successful candidate should possess 10+ years of experience and the following qualifications:<div></div><ul><li> 
Attention to Detail: Ability to design and develop intricate electrical power systems, meticulously tracking design elements and technical requirements throughout these processes.</li><li>
Strong Knowledge of Electrical Engineering Principles: proficiency in applying principles of engineering, electrical engineering discipline, and advanced mathematics for analysis, design, and troubleshooting, specifically in power distribution and control equipment
</li><li>Communication Skills: Strong collaboration skills to work closely with other engineers and technicians, clearly explaining designs and reasoning. Ability to relay instructions during product development, production, construction, and to explain complex issues to customers with little technical expertise. Experience in reviewing and participating in contract negotiations is also desirable.</li><li>
Project Management: Competence in managing various aspects of power systems or other projects to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget. Ability to monitor and evaluate work at job sites as projects progress.</li><li>
Writing Skills: Excellent technical writing skills to prepare reports and summaries on interconnection studies, contribute to standards development, draft specifications and requirement documents, and provide status reports on projects. The ability to make findings and specifications easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences is essential.</li><li>
Education: BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A master&rsquo;s degree is preferred.</li><li>
License: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable.</li><li>

Responsibilities and Expectations:
IPS is seeking a talented and experienced Electro-Mechanical Field Service Technician to join our team. This role requires strong technical onsite repair skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to deliver unmatched customer experience in demanding industrial environments such as surface mining facilities, dragline equipment, and other heavy industries.
As an Electromechanical Field Service Technician, you will perform advanced diagnostics and repairs&mdash;including vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, and electrical testing&mdash;while also leading field crews, ensuring job safety, and representing IPS in a professional manner. This is a hands-on, decision-making role that requires both technical expertise and strong leadership in the field.<ul><li>
Represent IPS in a knowledgeable and professional manner, maintaining strong customer relationships.</li><li>
Perform advanced diagnostics including vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, and electrical testing as needed.</li><li>
Conduct motor removal, installation, troubleshooting, and repair for AC/DC motors in industrial and mining environments.</li><li>
Carry out precision tasks such as shaft alignment, bearing replacement, seal setting, and torquing critical components to specifications.</li><li>
Provide on-the-job training and mentorship for field service technicians in advanced electrical and mechanical skills.</li><li>
Assist with proposals, job walks, and defining work scopes for customer projects (preventive maintenance, reliability, motor change-outs, testing, etc.).</li><li>
Ensure compliance with all IPS policies, procedures, and safety requirements, including completion of field service safety checklists.</li><li>
Utilize test equipment such as Megger&reg;, PdMA MCE, Multimeter, DLRO, and other diagnostic tools.</li><li>
Perform DC motor/generator commutator inspections, including evaluation of commutator condition, brush holders, brush wear, and mica depth.</li><li>
Clean electro-mechanical equipment using methods such as bead blasting, ice blasting, and solvent cleaning.</li><li>
Prepare detailed service and technical reports with findings and recommendations.</li><li>
Think creatively and problem-solve in challenging environments to minimize customer downtime.</li><li>
Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects safely and effectively.</li><li>
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and IPS Engineering to overcome advanced failures and repairs.</li></ul>
Qualifications and Competencies:<ul><li>
4+ years of hands-on AC/DC motor service experience (mining, dragline, or heavy industrial environment preferred).</li><li>
PdMA testing experience or equivalent diagnostic equipment (preferred).</li><li>
Vibration Analysis ISO CAT II certification (preferred).</li><li>
Strong skills in vibration analysis, alignment, and bearing inspections.</li><li>
Proven ability to lead teams and train technicians in the field.</li><li>
Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures precisely.</li><li>
Excellent problem-solving skills; able to adapt and think outside the box under pressure.</li><li>
Strong customer focus with professional communication skills.</li><li>
Basic computer literacy and technical report writing ability.</li><li>
Valid Driver&rsquo;s License with an acceptable driving record.</li><li>
Ability to travel locally and overnight, with availability for overtime, weekends, and on-call assignments.</li><li>
