Learning Assistant -Role Profile 
Purpose of Role
The primary purpose of the Learning Assistant is to work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff to implement agreed work programs with individuals/groups in and out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the management and preparation of resources. The primary focus will be to support students in accessing the curriculum and assisting them to undertake and complete tasks.

Key Responsibilities
Main Duties:<ul><li>
Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
</li><li>Support children consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
</li><li>Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the classroom.
</li><li>Encourage to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all students in activities.
</li><li>Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievements and self-reliance.
</li><li>Work with the teacher to establish an appropriate learning environment.
</li><li>Assist with the implementation of IEP&rsquo;s.
</li><li>Monitor and evaluate children&rsquo;s responses to learning.
</li><li>Promote positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour, in line with established policy.
</li><li>Implement agreed learning activities, adjusting activities according to responses and needs.
</li><li>Support the use of IT in learning activities and develop students&rsquo; competence and independence.
</li><li>Help all students to access learning activities.
</li><li>Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.
</li><li>Assist with preparing equipment, apparatus and display boards.
</li><li>Supervising children to and from the swimming pool, including changing, as appropriate. This is a shared responsibility with the teacher.
</li><li>Creating, checking and tidying resources, maintaining a well organised working environment.
</li><li>Playground duties and monitoring of snack time.
</li><li>Working with groups of children at the direction of the teacher.
</li><li>Assisting and implementing school policies.
</li><li>Be prepared to undertake further professional development.</li><li>
Take part in the performance management process, setting and reviewing annual targets.
</li></ul>Other:<ul><li>
Any other duties required by the class teacher, Head of Year, Deputy Head, Assistant Head or the Head Teacher, which is in the scope of the post.

Social Worker Key Responsibilities<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Student Wellbeing and Support</h3><ul><li>
Provide social and emotional support to students facing challenges, ensuring they are referred to qualified school counsellors or external services for counselling when necessary.</li><li>
Offer early intervention strategies to support students at risk of disengagement or facing adverse personal circumstances, ensuring they are referred to qualified counsellors when needed.</li><li>
Identify and address barriers to learning, ensuring students receive appropriate social and emotional support.</li><li>
Assist students in accessing appropriate resources to support their social and emotional development, ensuring they receive guidance from qualified professionals where necessary.</li><li>
Maintain confidentiality protocols in line with school and regulatory guidelines while prioritising student safety and wellbeing.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Collaboration with Staff and Families</h3><ul><li>
Work closely with teachers, the Inclusion Team, and school leadership to develop holistic student support strategies.</li><li>
Provide guidance and resources to staff on managing student social and emotional needs in the classroom.</li><li>
Engage families and caregivers to strengthen home-school collaboration and provide necessary support.</li><li>
Serve as a key member of the Safeguarding and Child Protection Team, ensuring timely intervention in cases of concern.</li><li>
Assist in the development of student support plans, including behaviour intervention strategies and wellbeing initiatives.</li><li>
Communicates with parents on a regular, informal basis and to deal with day to day queries</li><li>
Attends Parents&rsquo; Evenings as required and to provide accurate, honest information regarding the progress of individuals at these meetings</li><li>
Reports to the parents in the form of written reports twice yearly or when required by the SLT</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Referral and External Coordination</h3><ul><li>
Establish and maintain referral pathways for students requiring external mental health or social services.</li><li>

Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as needed in collaboration with stakeholders.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
School-Wide Wellbeing Initiatives</h3><ul><li>
Lead school-wide wellbeing programs that promote resilience, emotional intelligence, and social responsibility.</li><li>

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Educational Qualifications Required for the Role<ul><li>
UAE Nationals: Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field (preferred).</li><li>
Non-UAE Nationals: Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.</li></ul>
Minimum Years of Experience Required<ul><li>
UAE Nationals: Some experience in social work or related fields is preferred but not required.</li><li>
Non-UAE Nationals: Minimum 3 years of experience working as a social worker in a school or child-focused setting.</li></ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Licensing</h3><ul><li>
Must obtain relevant professional accreditation or licensure as required by local regulations.</li><li>
