About this Role:

The Project Manager at Irby Construction Company is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating high-voltage transmission and distribution projects, overseeing multiple crews, and ensuring safe, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery. This role requires a minimum of 3 years of powerline construction experience, in-depth knowledge of OSHA codes and standards, and the ability to manage all aspects of project execution from pre-construction through closeout. The Project Manager must possess strong leadership, technical, and organizational skills, and be able to direct multiple crews and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.</div><br>

What You'll Do:
<div><b>
Pre-Construction Planning</b></div><ul><li>
Attend pre-construction meetings with estimators and stakeholders.</li><li>
Review bid packages for accuracy, completeness, and scope.</li><li>
Provide technical assistance, interpret drawings, and recommend construction methods and equipment.</li><li>
Assist in developing construction schedules, plans, and organizing crews.</li><li>
Work with Superintendent to assign foremen to job tasks and generate lists of required personnel, equipment, and tooling.</li><li>
Arrange for personnel and equipment transfers to projects.</li><li>
Support pre-construction activities including bid preparation, contract and exhibit review, and execution planning.</li></ul><div><b>
Project Planning &amp; Management</b></div><ul><li>
Oversee budget projections for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.</li><li>
Ensure project expenditure remains within established budgets, implementing cost-saving strategies.</li><li>
Develop, update, and manage project schedules</li><li>
Prepare billing packages and submit documentation to clients.</li><li>
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly projections and track progress across all activities.</li><li>
Provide accurate project cost forecasts and develop monthly cost-to-complete reports.</li><li>
Prepare, submit, monitor, and maintain all project submittals and RFIs.</li><li>
Analyze cost reports and identify methods to optimize expenses.</li><li>
Manage the invoicing or payment application process for completed scopes of work.</li></ul><div><b>
Construction Execution</b></div><ul><li>
Review and become familiar with multiple contracts; ensure compliance with specifications.</li><li>
Accountable for quality of work and safety performance.</li><li>
Visit crews to monitor safety, quality, and production.</li><li>
Assist foremen in coordinating major project activities and critical tasks.</li><li>
Attend project meetings with owners and stakeholders.</li><li>
Update schedules and progress reports; verify as-builts and progress charts.</li><li>
Ensure all change orders are documented and billed.</li><li>
Maintain communication with inspectors and owners regarding quality, safety, schedule, and materials.</li><li>
Execute corrective actions for delays, adverse weather, or emergencies.</li><li>
Coordinate and support emergency repair and storm restoration efforts.</li></ul><div><b>
Contract Administration</b></div><ul><li>
Prepare, review, and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.</li><li>
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure contracts align with company policies.</li><li>
Maintain supplier relationships and ensure adherence to legal requirements.</li></ul><p><b>
Documentation &amp; Reporting</b></p><ul><li>
Maintain comprehensive records of working documents per document control practices.</li><li>
Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.</li><li>
Present project updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.</li><li>
Ensure all project documentation supports schedule and budget adherence.</li></ul><p><b>
Stakeholder Communication &amp; Issue Resolution</b></p><ul><li>
Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.</li><li>
Lead meetings to resolve work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.</li><li>
Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and clients.</li><li>
Follow up on complaints from owners, the public, or landowners.</li></ul><div><b>
Material &amp; Quality Management</b></div><ul><li>
Develop and oversee project material trackers based on BOM, drawings, and scope.</li><li>
Monitor inventories, production, shortages, and damages.</li><li>
Ensure productivity, efficient use of materials/equipment, and contractual performance.</li><li>
Monitor quality of labor, equipment hours, material, and subcontractor reporting.</li></ul><p><b>
Team Leadership &amp; Development</b></p><ul><li>
Mentor and guide associate project managers and coordinators.</li><li>
Foster a collaborative and performance orientated team environment.</li><li>
Lead daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, including agenda and minutes.</li><li>
Arrange and participate in weekly foremen and monthly safety meetings.</li><li>
Participate in monthly job safety review meetings.</li><li>
Review personnel with Operations (evaluations, pay raises, CDL requirements, etc.).</li></ul><p><b>
General Duties</b></p><ul><li>
Accountable for cost, progress, and schedule for the duration of the project.</li><li>
Assist business unit with monthly forecasts.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with safety programs and review all accidents.</li><li>
May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild/repair damaged power systems.</li><li>
Attend training classes or seminars on new processes, safety regulations, and refresher training.</li><li>
Review personnel with Operations (i.e., personal evaluations, pay raises, CDL requirements, personal problems, loans, etc.).</li><li>
Arrange and/or participate in weekly foremen meetings (review if not attending).</li><li>
Arrange and/or participate in monthly safety meetings (review if not attending).</li><li>
Participate in monthly job safety review meetings.</li><li>
Accountable for cost, progress, and schedule for duration of project.
</li><li>Assist BU with monthly forecast by the 10th of each month.
</li><li>Accountable for compliance with safety program and review all accidents.
</li><li>Follow up on any complaints (from owner, general public, or landowners).</li></ul>
What You'll Bring:
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered</li><li>
PMP Certification is a plus.</li><li>
Skilled with project management software (Excel, P6, MS Project, EcoSys, etc.).</li><li>
Strong organizational, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.</li><li>
Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize assignments.</li><li>
Management and supervision skills.</li><li>
High sense of integrity and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.</li><li>
Valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li><li>
Willingness to travel and work extended hours as required.</li><li>
Knowledge of applicable municipal, state, and federal legislation is an asset.</li></ul>
