Job Summary
As a Software Application Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and APIs that deliver predictive insights and AI-powered features.
You will work with serverless technologies, cloud infrastructure, and Databricks to build reliable, secure, and high-performance applications. This role focuses on developing REST APIs, integrating with data platforms, and enabling customer-facing AI and analytics solutions.
Requirements
Primary Responsibility
Application Development &amp; API Engineering<ul><li>Develop and maintain serverless applications using PHP and Node.js on AWS Lambda and Databricks.</li><li>Build and enhance parsing logic to extract structured data from raw inputs using regex and transformation logic.</li><li>Develop REST API endpoints for predictive models and analytics services.</li><li>Create and maintain OpenAPI specifications and API documentation.</li></ul>
Database &amp; Data Integration<ul><li>Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and performance using MySQL and Databricks.</li><li>Integrate applications with AWS services including S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Parameter Store, and RDS.</li><li>Support new data integrations and formats across internal and external systems.</li></ul>
Cloud, Event-Driven Architecture &amp; Performance<ul><li>Implement event-driven architectures using messaging and streaming services (Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS, EventBridge).</li><li>Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.</li><li>Support asynchronous processing and real-time data delivery.</li></ul>
Security, Reliability &amp; DevOps<ul><li>Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities and maintain secure coding practices.</li><li>Support CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes.</li><li>Participate in code reviews and follow development standards and best practices.</li></ul>
Collaboration &amp; Platform Integration<ul><li>Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and platform teams to deliver AI-powered solutions.</li><li>Support integration with Databricks and cloud-based data platforms.</li><li>Contribute to scalable, reliable delivery of customer-facing analytics applications.</li></ul>

Skills &amp; Experience
Required:<ul><li>3&ndash;5 years of experience in software development.</li><li>Strong proficiency in PHP and Node.js/JavaScript with object-oriented programming.</li><li>Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, S3, API Gateway, RDS, and CloudWatch.</li><li>Strong experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization.</li><li>Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.</li><li>Strong knowledge of regex patterns and data parsing techniques.</li><li>Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, SNS/SQS, EventBridge).</li><li>Experience with Git version control and CI/CD workflows.</li><li>Understanding of DevOps practices including automated deployment and testing.</li><li>Experience with vulnerability management and secure coding practices.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.</li></ul>
 Preferred:<ul><li>Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger and API documentation tools.</li><li>Experience with Databricks, Spark, or distributed data platforms.</li><li>Exposure to machine learning or AI integrations (OpenAI or similar APIs).</li><li>Experience working in infrastructure, utilities, land management, or analytics domains.</li><li>Familiarity with modern AI engineering frameworks or agent-based systems.</li></ul>
EDUCATION<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s or master&rsquo;s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.</li></ul>
