Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the direct driver management and supervision of midsize driver count, ensuring safe and timely service movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best-in-class customer service. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and responsible for all driver compliance and company regulations while working with internal and external contacts to ensure the accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads. The transportation manager must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility in scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes, but is not limited to, day, night, and weekend shifts and ensuring that coverage is accounted for.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity
</li><li>Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and achieving profitability
</li><li>Utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees including the training and assistance with internal and third-party (customer) systems
</li><li>Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability and make recommendations for continuous improvement, determine and measure key performance indicators, and create, maintain, and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis through face-to-face and/or virtual interactions at customer locations
</li><li>Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and/or assignment of drivers to balance equipment in market
</li><li>Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documenting, resolving pay issues, invoicing, and/or creating operational or financial reports
</li><li>Manage yard including checking/inspecting equipment, replacing parts (like mud flaps), completing repairs, etc., and coordinate with maintenance to ensure all regular preventative maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety-related mechanical issues are fixed for account equipment (as required) Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing and/or planning, mechanical problems, accessorial pay-related issues, etc. as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary, when on-call Maintain the Company's safety culture to include daily driver safety messages, monthly driver safety briefings, quarterly driver training, annual reviews, and enforce company policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are being met
</li><li>Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing exceptions on that freight and driver ETA adjustments based on pick-up and delivery schedules, and other environmental factors on the road

This incumbent will work closely with internal and external contacts to investigate claims, negotiate settlements, and prepare reports to ensure accurate and timely processing of casualty claims.

Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Utilize independent knowledge and experience to conduct claims investigations to determine liability exposure of each assigned claim. This investigation includes analysis of state and federal laws, retaining services of field investigators, outside legal counsel to obtain a full picture of exposure and documentation of all findings for each claim within the claims matter management system for management review as well as internal and external audit processes. Manage complex claims involving alleged property damage and bodily injury through the interview of key witnesses; securing evidence, reviewing applicable statutes and laws, analysis of estimates of repair, and analyzing medical reports
</li><li>Handle all monetary aspects of assigned claims through the calculation of financial exposure analysis leading to the establishment of reserves at proper levels within assigned approval levels. And, by keeping management aware of claims with exposures above approved levels for continuous timely and efficient resolutions of assigned claims.
</li><li>Manage negotiations with claimants, claimant's legal representatives or third parties by utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills in sharing investigative results and rationale, listening to claimant perspective and arguments, and influencing claimant perspective to achieve consensus on appropriate and final resolution of assigned claims
</li><li>Utilize strong communication skills to keep all stakeholders aware of findings, decisions, and resolutions to support plans and initiatives to meet business unit needs while establishing accountability in achieving results and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities.
