Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia&rsquo;s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. <b>Reynolds Community College is seeking a part-time Opticianry Clinical Instructor.</b><br>
<br>
This position is responsible for supporting course delivery and assisting students understand course material and build the technical skills necessary for certification and/or licensure. The role includes, but is not limited to the following duties:<br>
</div><ul><li>Provide clinical instruction for students enrolled in laboratory, dispensing, or contact lens courses as assigned.</li>
<li>Assembly and disassembly of course supply kits for distance clinical students.</li>
<li>Proctor skill-based assessments, midterm and final exams aligned with OPT curriculum.</li>
<li>Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to support mastery of skills.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate documentation of student competencies.</li>
<li>Provide student support and tutoring as needed to reinforce course content or preparation for state licensing exams.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with COA accreditation standards.</li>
<li>Collaborate with program faculty to support student success.</li>
</ul></div><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Current state optician license, ABO and/or NCLE certification</li>
<li>Two years of industry experience in an optical dispensing setting</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of opticianry course content</li>
<li>Effective instructional and communication skills</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to assess student learning and provide constructive feedback</li>
<li>Familiarity with opticianry state licensure regulations</li>
<li>Professionalism and a commitment to student-centered instruction</li></ul><div><br>
</div><b>
Additional Considerations:</b><br>
<ul>
<li>Teaching or optical industry training experience</li>
<li>Experience teaching via a wide variety educational modalities, such as in-person, live video, or asynchronous modes.</li></ul></div></div>
