Position Goal
The purpose of the position is to facilitate and manage patient care duties following the guidelines established by the Alabama Physical Therapy State Practice Act, licensing board, and under the direction of and referral by a physician and to provide quality patient care according to the standards of the American Physical Therapy Association, appropriate to age and disability related to limitations in function and to document and perform charge related functions.
Position Responsibilities
<ul><li>Completion of patient evaluation and appropriate plan of care consistent with physician orders, third party payor requirements, and expectations of the patient. Perform patient treatments consistent with the care plan, skill level and within boundaries of the profession as outlined by practice act and APTA practice standards.</li>
<li>Document all related information necessary for development of the treatment plan and daily treatments, proper ICD-9 and CPT coding, home exercise programs, patient education, physician reporting and discharge summaries.</li>
<li>Direct and supervise treatment provided by support personnel. Provide accurate and timely reporting of charges consistent with documentation to the PT Technician.</li>
<li>Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.</li>
<li>Assists in ordering supplies, maintains adequate PAR levels to assure all supplies and equipment is readily available.</li>
<li>Meet deadlines effectively</li>
<li>Complete age-specific competencies and able to demonstrate age-specific treatments</li>
</ul>
Experience: 1-2 years experience as a Physical Therapist in a hospital setting preferred.
Education: Baccalaureate (4-year) degree, Masters Degree or Doctorate Degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association &amp; CAPTE.
Special Qualifications: Current AL license as a Physical Therapist required. Current BLS required.

Physical Therapist Part Time

<div>Shift: 5:00AM - 1:30PM ET
Position Goal
Under the direction of unit management, the Unit Secretary/Nurse Support Tech (US/NST) performs unit functions appropriate to the position, and in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. Functions include managing supplies, answering telephones. Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), the US/NST performs patient care and unit functions appropriate to the position, and in compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and procedures. The US/NST is expected to anticipate the needs of the patient within the scope of their practice. The US/NST collects, reports, and documents patient data, and keeps the RN informed of pertinent changes in patient condition. The US/NST also participates in orientation of new personnel as appropriate.
Position Responsibilities
<ul><li>US/NST will participate in patient care by collecting, charting and recording patient data in a timely fashion according to hospital policy and keeping the RN informed of pertinent data.</li>
<li>US/NST electronically transcribes physician orders in an accurate and timely fashion</li>
<li>Assists with unit orientation of students and employees as appropriate.</li>
<li>Maintains an organized work environment (which may include files, supplies, equipment, etc.) to ensure easy access and physical professional appearance.</li>
<li>Maintains optimal inventory supplies in an effort to enhance workflow efficiencies.</li>
<li>Provides secretarial support as appropriate which may include data entry, faxing, copying, filing, scheduling, charting, etc.</li>
<li>Demonstrates responsibility for own competency/mandatories and annual performance evaluation by maintaining all personal data up-to-date. Meets educational requirements for new equipment, materials, procedures and technology.</li>
<li>Performs any ancillary testing including but not limited to: finger sticks and oxygen set-ups.</li>
<li>Completes all assigned tasks and communicates to the RN the patient responses to care provided in an accurate and timely manner.</li>
<li>Makes frequent patient rounds for fluids and toileting and keeps room clean, neat and maintains items within reach. Pays extra attention to patients in high fall risk categories.</li>
<li>Understands and follows health standards related to risk management, safety and infection control.</li>
<li>Maintains patient chart: proper location, adequate forms, remove excess forms, correct order of forms at discharge.</li>
<li>Answers telephones in courteous, professional manner and accurately communicates messages.</li>
<li>Maintains logs.</li>
<li>Arranges/ provides patient transport and assists with errands.</li>
<li>Courteously and promptly greets patients/visitors to the unit, escorts and orients patients to their room</li>
<li>Assists the RN in locating test results not available on the chart.</li>
<li>Maintains confidentiality.</li>
<li>Responds to any inquiries in a courteous manner.</li>
<li>Reports and processes patient issues, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards.</li>
<li>Screens all incoming calls and re-routes appropriately.</li>
<li>Assists in calling patients with any scheduling changes.</li>
</ul>
Experience: Hospital experience preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. CNA preferred
Special Qualifications:
<ul><li>Current BLS required.</li>
