As our fleet and operations continue to expand, we are seeking skilled- certified Heavy Equipment Mechanics to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining the performance, reliability, and safety of our trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. 
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and other critical components. This position requires a strong mechanical background, problem-solving ability, and the versatility to service a variety of equipment in a fast-paced environment. 
Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty off-road equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems, conducting repairs with precision, documenting work performed, and ensuring all equipment is in safe, working condition.

This is a hands-on role that requires working both in the shop and outdoors in a yard environment, often under challenging weather conditions. 
Duties/Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical/electronic systems, and drivetrains.</li>
<li>Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections of critical components.</li>
<li>Perform light assembly work, including attaching buckets, hydraulic couplers, forks &amp; carriages.
</li><li>Troubleshoot and repair air conditioning systems, suspensions, brakes, and steering systems.</li>
<li>Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, schematics, and diagnostic codes. 
</li>
<li>Utilize diagnostic software, test equipment, and precision measuring tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.</li>
<li>Complete all work orders, inspection reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards, using proper PPE and safe shop practices.</li>
<li>Maintain accountability for company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicles.</li>
<li>Assist in mentoring and training junior mechanics or apprentices when applicable.</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul> 


Required Skills/Abilities
<ul>
<li>ASE Certification</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.</li>
<li>Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and technical problems.</li>
<li>Competence in reading schematics, prints, and service manuals.</li>
<li>Knowledge of welding and fabrication practices.</li>
<li>Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and shop equipment.</li>
<li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs overhead, work at heights up to 15 feet, and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.</li>
<li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul> 


Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Technical training or certification in Diesel/Heavy Equipment Service Technology.</li>
<li>Experience in fleet maintenance or dealership service environments.</li></ul> 


Physical Requirements
<ul>
<li>Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting.</li>
<li>Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust, and fumes).</li>
<li>Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment for inspections and repairs.</li></ul>

JB Harris Transport &amp; Logistics is seeking a safety-driven and dependable Class B Heavy Equipment Tandem Axle Rollback Driver to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the secure transport of heavy equipment and construction materials used in roadwork, infrastructure development, and related projects. You will operate a tandem axle rollback truck with a minimum capacity of 56,000+ pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and transportation regulations. 
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Safely operate and maneuver a tandem axle rollback truck.</li>
<li>Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and timely activity logs and records.</li>
<li>Report vehicle issues or incidents immediately to dispatch.</li>
<li>Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.</li>
<li>Keep truck clean, organized, and in compliance with DOT standards.</li>
<li>Exhibit professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct.</li>
<li>Demonstrate the ability to work independently and make decisions on the job site.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow drivers, equipment operators, and other team members.</li>
<li>Follow all written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.</li>
<li>Hybrid mechanic / driver candidate preferred.</li></ul> 


Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Minimum 2 years of heavy haul experience in a related field.</li>
<li>Valid Commercial Class A Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL B) 2 Years.</li>
<li>Current Department of Transportation (D.O.T) Medical Certification.</li>
<li>Strong understanding of FMCSA regulatory compliance and safety standards.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills and a collaborative work ethic.</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.</li></ul>
