Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our new plant in Pune, India. This role will be responsible for cost-effective procurement of assigned materials and services to support both plant start-up and ongoing operations.
In Phase I, the focus will be on import purchasing, including sourcing from global suppliers, managing import documentation, and ensuring compliance with customs and regulatory requirements. As the plant ramps up, the Purchasing Specialist will expand responsibilities to include more local sourcing, supplier development, and ongoing material management.
The Purchasing Specialist will work closely with engineering, operations, logistics, and suppliers to secure high-quality materials and services that meet production and new product development needs, while driving cost efficiency and operational excellence.<div></div>
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties are not all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.<ul><li>
Phase I &ndash; Import Purchasing: Manage international supplier sourcing, import documentation, shipping, and customs compliance to ensure timely material availability for the new plant.</li><li>
Plant Procurement Support: Ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing to support production, maintenance, and plant operations in Pune.</li><li>
Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring performance in delivery, quality, and cost.</li><li>
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Engineering, Operations, and IPD Purchasing Specialists to align purchasing activities with production schedules and new product development requirements.</li><li>
Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and long-term value.</li><li>
Systems &amp; Data: Maintain accurate lead times, purchase orders, and supplier data in procurement systems.</li><li>
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in procurement efficiency, including digital tools such as EDI or barcoding.</li><li>
Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to company policies, business controls, and applicable import/export regulations.</li></ul><div></div>
Basic Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree.</li><li>
5+ years of purchasing, supply chain, or related experience.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>
Experience with import purchasing, international logistics, and customs compliance.</li><li>
Familiarity with purchasing policies, procedures, and business controls.</li><li>
Background in manufacturing, operations, or engineering environments.</li><li>
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.</li><li>
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, plant-based environment.</li></ul></div>

As a Plant Support Engineer, you'll tackle technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and functionality of our prints and new designs. Your expertise will be instrumental in keeping our operations smooth and efficient.
YOUR IMPACT<ul><li>
Provide Engineering support to Plants by answering questions, helping with troubleshooting issues, addressing design errors, etc.</li><li>
Help plant quality personnel with CSE (Customer Support Engineering) project creation.</li><li>
Work with plant ME/IE personnel to answer questions related to future/current CN Releases.</li><li>
Research, study, and propose modifications/fixes to current products to solve issues uncovered in the plants.</li><li>
Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.</li><li>
Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.</li><li>
Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.</li><li>
Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material</li><li>
Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements</li><li>
Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Oshkosh Way.</li><li>
Conduct duties consistent with the Company&rsquo;s mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures</li><li>
Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds in the plants.</li><li>
Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication</li><li>
Provide direction to designers and drafters regarding engineering analysis.</li></ul>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>
Associate degree or equivalent* with four (4) years of experience in drafting/design.</li></ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>
Associate degree or equivalent* with five (5) years of experience in drafting/design.</li><li>
Verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>
Ability to adapt to a fast pace environment.</li><li>
Detail oriented.</li><li>
Capable of using standard Windows Office tools including SharePoint, email, and CAD tools.</li><li>
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.</li></ul><ul><li>Note: equivalent equates approximately four (4) years of on the job experience to one (1) year of formal education.

Pay Range:
$56,600.00 - $88,400.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
