The Law Firm of John Ray &amp; Associates is seeking two self-motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Legal Assistants. Legal Assistants ensure smooth running of the office and effective case management. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to start or advance their career in the legal field. We are willing to train intelligent and quick learners, even if you do not yet have direct legal experience. This position has opportunities for professional growth and development in a supportive team environment with hands-on training.Responsibilities<ul><li>Provide administrative support to lawyer and enhance office effectiveness</li><li>Handle communication with clients, witnesses, etc.</li><li>Administratively support and attend trials</li><li>Prepare case briefs and summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony</li><li>Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research</li><li>Locate and develop case relevant information</li><li>Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence</li><li>Answer and direct phone calls</li><li>Maintain contact lists</li><li>Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars; manage electronic filings</li><li>Research case law and statutes</li><li>Scanning, copying, and organizing legal documents</li><li>Drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal correspondence</li><li>General litigation</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Working experience as legal assistant or legal secretary (or similar line of work)</li><li>Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system</li><li>Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office</li><li>Computer literacy</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat</li><li>Strong attention to detail</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Excellent secretarial and organizational skills</li><li>Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Legal Assistant certification or diploma a plus</li></ul>If you are eager to learn, highly adaptable, and ready to contribute to a dynamic legal team, we encourage you to apply.
