Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Perform corridor safety and feasibility studies.</li>
<li>Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.</li>
<li>Perform design computations.</li>
<li>Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.</li>
<li>Develop construction cost estimates.</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction.</li>
<li>Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality.</li>
<li>Assist Project managers in the interaction with clients to present findings and recommendations.</li>

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.

Traffic Design Engineer

Position Summary: The Traffic Data Collection Field Technician is responsible for data collection and will be responsible for setting up count equipment in the field. Types of data collection include turning movement counts, portable counts, pedestrian and bicycle counts and various traffic studies. The technician will be required to work both inside of the office and in the field depending on the tasks being performed. Field operations may require working in a wide range of weather and roadway conditions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Work with other field staff</li>
<li>Download count data</li>
<li>Counting vehicles at intersections (manually or via video)</li>
<li>Placing tubes in road to count traffic</li>
<li>Deploying cameras at intersections</li>
<li>Taking digital photographs and noting other field data information</li>
<li>Conducting various other studies such as vehicle occupancy and origin destination studies</li></ul>

This is a predominantly a field-based position. Travel will be needed between traffic count sites based on client and project needs and could include out of state travel.
