 Summary Under the supervision of the Department Chair of Allied Health Programs, the Part-Time Adjunct Respiratory Therapy Instructor provides high-quality instruction in classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical settings as assigned. This position supports student learning by delivering course content, evaluating student performance, and maintaining current knowledge of respiratory care practices. The adjunct instructor contributes to student success and supports the mission of the Respiratory Therapy Program and the College.
 
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties as assigned. · Provides instruction in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings as assigned.· Prepares and delivers course materials in alignment with program curriculum and accreditation standards.· Evaluates student performance and provides timely feedback on assignments, exams, and clinical competencies.· Maintains accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.· Assists in the implementation of curriculum and learning resources.· Supports simulation and lab activities to enhance hands-on learning experiences.· Maintains communication with students regarding course expectations and performance.· Collaborates with full-time faculty and program leadership as needed.· Ensures compliance with college policies, accreditation standards, and clinical requirements (if applicable).· Participates in program meetings and professional development as appropriate.· Maintains current knowledge of respiratory therapy practices and education methodologies.· Promotes a positive and inclusive learning environment.· Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervision of students in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings as assigned.

 Language Skills Effective written and verbal communication skills are required. Mathematical Skills Ability to perform basic math computations including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and averaging all units of measure.  Summary: As a Biotechnology Instructor, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering engaging curriculum, including BioWork, Corporate Training, and Bioprocess Technology courses and labs. This position also provides an opportunity to contribute to grant projects and other initiatives that support the biotechnology department’s mission.
 
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Other duties may be assigned.Lead and Inspire: Teach 18-21 contact hours per semester in curriculum and/or continuing education programs, work on campus at a minimum of 20 hours a week, and hold regularly scheduled office hours.Engage and Innovate: Develop and implement hands-on, industry-relevant coursework that prepares students for success in biotechnology fields.Mentor and Guide: Counsel students on academic progress, career paths, and industry expectations.Enhance Learning Experiences: Maintain a safe and orderly lab environment, incorporating the latest biotechnology advancements.Collaborate and Grow: Work closely with the Department Chair to align curriculum with market demands and workforce trends.Assist in registration and orientation as requested by the supervisor.Support Student Success: Offer tutoring and support services to ensure student engagement and retention. Participate in student graduation and other related student activities. Stay Ahead of the Curve: Participate in professional development opportunities to bring cutting-edge knowledge to the classroom.Industry Partnerships: Assist in marketing, tracking, and retaining students while fostering relationships with biotech companies and stakeholders.Maintain & Improve: keep accurate records of student work and attendance and submit required documents by deadlines established by the college. Use your skillset to streamline processes to ensure efficient delivery of information and material to enhance the student experience. Prepare & Plan: Assist in maintaining department/curriculum equipment, supplies, and materials, and library and support resources. Support adjunct instructors: assist in orientation to job duties and campus, mentoring, access to support services, access to resources to include office supplies, lab supplies as needed, support for online education to include LMS help as needed.

Johnston Community College typically operates on a Monday – Thursday schedule from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. In addition, from mid-May – early August, the College operates on a forty-hour work week from Monday – Thursday, with the College closed on Fridays. As an instructor you will be required to instruct between 18-21 contact hours per semester depending on the course (exclusively lab courses 21 contact hours per semester, exclusively lecture instruction 18 contact hours a semester). You must be on campus at minimum 20 hours a week. You must hold at minimum 5 office hours a week.
