Responsibilities:
<div>
Responsibilities for the Safety Intern will include:</div><ul><li>
 Work on agreed upon projects throughout the intern process (i.e. jobsite safety audit walks, updating forms, formal program creation, training programs, etc.) Submit projects in binder form (or electronic) for review and critique.</li><li>
Complete job site safety audits to recognize and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors. Offer corrective actions and preventive measures as they are needed, presented in formal manner for documentation and reference.</li><li>
Give presentations throughout the internship (i.e. leading some sort of topic at a meeting, an orientation or other corporate gathering. Prepare and Present an agreed upon number of presentations throughout the internship to develop or improve group speaking about topics, recommended 1 per month.)</li><li>
Travel to jobsites for operations meetings, job/task safety training, audit purposes, or safety project planning. Take notes of observance and important aspects of the experience and the outcome of the meeting/ safety trainings, complete a one page write up for inclusion into the daily log.</li><li>
Complete/assist with any accident/ incident investigation. Write a report of your experience, including pictures and drawings as needed for inclusion into formal internship project reference.</li><li>
Keep up to date calendar.
</li><li>Complete a daily log of activities, focusing on something that you learned each day. Format daily log with name, date, and detailed description of the duties/accomplishments for the day.</li><li>
Complete safety audit reports and send to Superintendents for job sites visited.
</li><li>Complete 1 Toolbox Talk a week and turn in to supervisor</li><li>
Review JP Cullen safety manual and understand best practices.
</li><li>Attend Monday morning safety meetings, Ops plans, plan presentations, etc.
</li></ul>Qualifications:
<ul><li>Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Construction Management</li><li>
Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and construction site safety practices</li><li>
Ability to assist with safety audits, inspections, and incident reporting</li><li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite</li><li>
Strong verbal and written communication</li><li>
Detail-oriented and organized</li><li>
Willingness to learn and take initiative</li><li>
Comfortable working in both office and field environments</li></ul>

Overview:
<p>
This position reports to the Director of Preconstruction in their assigned division. The intern will contribute to success of our projects during the preconstruction phase including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and bidding as well as maintenance of our preconstruction tools, data, and resources used during preconstruction.</p>
Responsibilities:
<p><b>
On a daily/weekly basis the Intern will be expected to assist in the following:</b></p><ul><li>
Take off assignments - Quantifying scopes of work within a project.</li><li>
Subcontractor Quote Coverage - Ensuring Cullen is receiving bids from the subcontractor market in each category of work.</li><li>
Phasing and Scheduling &ndash; Working with our trade teams to understand the sequence of work activities and creating accurate schedules for our trade work.</li><li>
Historical Cost Database - Tracking and utilizing labor production rates to accurate price our self-performed work.</li><li>
Conceptual Cost Database - Assisting with updates to the conceptual cost database and obtaining current pricing from the subcontractor market. Utilizing conceptual cost to accurately produce cost estimates.</li><li>
Scope Letters and Scope Review - Ensuring subcontractors scopes are coordinated to ensure complete proposals.</li><li>
Material Quotes - Obtaining material pricing from suppliers for Cullen Self Preformed Work.</li><li>
Site Walks - Attending pre-bid site visits and capture relevant information about existing conditions.</li><li>
Document Management &ndash; Assisting with updating electronic documents used during preconstruction.</li><li>
Problem Solving &amp; Decision Making &ndash; Assisting the Preconstruction team with unique challenges encountered during preconstruction and developing strategies to overcome them.</li></ul>

Responsibilities for any intern and co-op position will depend on the actual assignment, but will include:</div><ul><li>
Field Assignments and Assistant Project Management Assignments: If your assignment is with a
<br>
Project Manager or on a jobsite with a Superintendent, we will give you as much responsibility as you
<br>
can show us you will handle. Work in this position varies depending on the specific needs of
<br>
whomever you are working for but will expose you to almost all aspects of work in the field. Specific
<br>
work assignments may include:</li><li>
Shop Drawings &ndash; You may be assigned to expedite, review, and coordinate shop drawings and
<br>
submittals for projects under construction.</li><li>
Drawing Updates - You will incorporate revisions to contract documents as necessary to keep
<br>
jobsite or office copies &ldquo;up to date&rdquo;. This will involve &ldquo;posting&rdquo; of construction change bulletins
<br>
on blueprints and in specifications.</li><li>
Change Orders &ndash; You may assist in organizing and estimating change order work for projects under
<br>
construction. This will include contacting subcontractors to get their pricing, estimating quantities
<br>
for Cullen&rsquo;s work, comparing changed work to original takeoff, and helping the Project Manager
<br>
put together a complete cost proposal.</li><li>
RFIs (Requests for Information) &ndash; You may be asked to evaluate problems in the field, or
<br>
discrepancies and problems with the drawings. You would determine the cause of the problem,
<br>
document it, produce sketches for clarification, and submit RFI&rsquo;s to the designer. Then you would
<br>
follow through to make sure the issue is resolved, and the answer gets to the field to not delay
<br>
construction.</li><li>
Scheduling &ndash; Using Primavera&rsquo;s P6 scheduling program (or similar), you may be assigned to
<br>
update, print, and distribute schedules for project. This would involve direct conversation with
<br>
the responsible superintendent and with subcontractors for data input.</li><li>
Drawings - You will produce miscellaneous sketches and drawings as requested by the Project
<br>
Manager or Superintendent. These may include formwork, embed locations, miscellaneous metal
<br>
items, site layouts, etc. Drawings are usually done for the field and are intended to translate
<br>
difficult drawing information into something the field can use to build. May be done with paper
<br>
and pencil or with a CAD program.</li><li>
Project Closeout - You will prepare project closeout documents, which will include updating &ldquo;asbuilt&rdquo; information on the contract drawings and organization of record documents and
<br>
warranties. You will expedite warranty and O&amp;M manual submissions from subcontractors.<br>
h) Coordination Meetings &ndash; The Superintendent may want you to prepare an agenda for and
<br>
participate in weekly jobsite meetings where schedule is discussed in detail and subcontractors
<br>
coordinate their work. You would produce minutes from those meetings and follow up that
<br>
subcontractors meet their commitments</li><li>
Monitoring Subcontractors - You may work with subcontractors to monitor their work, ensure
<br>
they will make their schedules, monitor their manpower, and monitor/inspect the quality of their
<br>
work and compliance with specifications and drawings.</li><li>
Deliveries &ndash; You may be procuring materials for the project. With direction from the Project
<br>
Manager or Superintendent, you would set up a log, prepare a delivery schedule, find problems,
<br>
visit suppliers, track shipments, check materials, and make sure they are labeled and stored
<br>
properly.</li><li>
Backcharge Tickets and Extra Work Tickets &ndash; You may prepare summaries of labor and material
<br>
costs for backcharge or extra work, provide appropriate explanations and get agreements and
<br>
signatures from subcontractors and owners.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or related field</li><li>
Strong communication and teamwork abilities</li><li>
