We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transmission Protection &amp; Control Engineer to join our team at K&amp;A Engineering in Charlotte, North Carolina. Role Expectations:
<ul><li>Develop comprehensive scopes of work for electrical Protection &amp; Controls (P&amp;C) systems in support of capital projects.</li>
<li>Assess substation yard and control house modifications, including major equipment upgrades, relay specifications, and panel layouts.</li>
<li>Identify and specify required equipment, materials, relay types, cabling, and telecom needs.</li>
<li>Perform site visits to evaluate existing conditions and validate project requirements.</li>
<li>Collaborate closely with stakeholders (Construction, Maintenance, Project Management, Planning, Operations) to ensure scope alignment with operational needs.</li>
<li>Apply engineering principles to resolve technical issues, conduct feasibility analyses, and provide solutions for moderately complex to complex problems.</li>
<li>Prepare accurate technical documentation, reports, calculations, and sketches.</li>
<li>Ensure scopes comply with internal standards, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices.</li>
<li>Independently manage scope development schedules, interfaces, and deliverables with minimal oversight.</li>
<li>Support project execution teams during design and construction by clarifying scope intent and resolving field issues.</li>
<li>Foster strong working relationships across departments to drive efficient collaboration and decision-making.</li>
</ul>
What we&rsquo;re looking for:
<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or equivalent)</li>
<li>3+ years of relevant engineering experience within the utility industry
</li><li>Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
</li><li>Proficient in the design of protection settings and control of all classes of substations
</li><li>Familiar with the creation of SPCC plans and secondary oil containment designs</li>
<li>Proficient in engineering theories and principles</li>
<li>Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations,</li>
<li>Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Familiar with principles of project management</li>
</ul>
Pay Range: $95,000&mdash;$105,000/year

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transmission Line Engineer IV to join our team at K&amp;A Engineering in Charlotte, NC. Role Expectations:
<ul><li>Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A master&rsquo;s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.</li>
<li>Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.</li>
<li>Professional Engineer Licensure</li>
<li>Experience in the utility industry.</li>
<li>Proficient in transmission line design theories and principles.</li>
<li>Proficient with transmission line design software; e.g PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, MFAD, etc.</li>
<li>Proficient in engineering theories and applying engineering principles to solve problems.</li>
<li>Familiarity with applicable design codes and standards</li>
<li>Proficient in practices of researching solutions, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting those recommendations.</li>
<li>Ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.</li>
<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li>
<li>Proficient in principles of project management.</li>
</ul>
What we&rsquo;re looking for:
<ul><li>Provides engineering/technical expertise in the area of transmission line design. Analyzes scenarios, evaluates options, and performs design calculations to comply with design standards, applicable codes and sound engineering practices. Responsibilities include support of transmission line routing/siting, creating conceptual designs and cost estimates, preforming detailed design including structure, foundation, and electrical design for transmission line projects. Responsibilities also include providing construction support, oversight and other similar activities.</li>
<li>Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of Transmission Line design.</li>
<li>Prepares thorough and accurate job packages, technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and drawings. Conducts analysis and recommends process enhancements and design standards relative to area of assignment.</li>
<li>Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems.</li>
<li>Ensures accomplishment of transmission line projects and overall business goals through effective planning, organizing, estimating, execution and monitoring of work activities. Effectively handles differing situations which require developing creative solutions with area of expertise. Modifies designs to address construction issues, environmental circumstances and public concerns. Assists construction in troubleshooting and problem resolution and provides on-site support.</li>
<li>Makes informed decisions that may impact major projects or business/department results.</li>
<li>Possesses and applies the fundamental engineering concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.</li>
<li>Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.</li>
<li>Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.</li>
