 Job Description
 
 
 
 Review clinical documentation and diagnosis results as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-9-CM and CPT4 codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research and regulatory compliance. Under the Direction of Health Information Management (HIM) or supervisor of HIM, accurately code inpatient and outpatient (for example, diagnostic, therapeutic, emergency department services, ambulatory surgery, observation service and behavioral health encounters) conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-9-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. Resolve error reports associated with billing processes, identify and report error patterns, and, when necessary, assist in design and implementation of workflow changes to reduce billing errors.
 
 
 
 Education And Credentials
 
 
 
 
 Associate&rsquo;s degree from an accredited institution or enrolled in a medical coding course through an accredited agency (i.e. AHIMA/AAPC)
 
 
 
 
 Experience
 
 
 
 One (1) year of progressive on-the-job experience. Must understand confidentiality and be able to operate in a PC in a network environment. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, basic knowledge of medical terminology, disease states/processes and pharmaceuticals required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

</h4>Completion of masters, post-masters&rsquo; or doctorate NP program accredited by CCNE or ACEN required. Current active RN and NP license in NYS required. DEA or DEA eligible required. Agreement from appropriate physician to enter into a collaborative agreement required.

At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience required. Two (2) years of clinical experience in specialty area of practice (i.e. ortho, sports med) as RN or NP preferred. 1 year Podiatry experience preferred.
