 Mid-level role supporting EPC project design work for power generation projects. Designer are responsible for developing detailed raceway designs including cable tray and above ground conduit from concept to completion. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit&rsquo;s construction teams to approach construction-drive engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit&rsquo;s legacy of excellence.

 Location
 
 
 
 This position can be based in any of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
 
 
 For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in office arrangement once the new office is established.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Design cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept to completion
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform calculations to size and check allowable fill in conduits and cable tray systems according to NEC requirements
 </li>
 <li>
 Routes electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate a cable schedule
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform layout of electrical equipment in electrical buildings
 </li>
 <li>
 Develops 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills
 </li>
 <li>
 Checks and navigates in the 3D models for interferences and constructability
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform calculations to size pull boxes according to NEC requirements
 </li>
 <li>
 Design and draft intermediate electrical drawings
 </li>
 <li>
 Little to no supervision required to apply standard correctly to design
 </li>
 <li>
 Initiates development of personal objectives aligned with those of the organization
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity
 </li>
 <li>
 Complies with company standards to produce quality deliverables
 </li>
 <li>
 Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development

 Qualifications

 At least 5 years&rsquo; experience in electrical design
 </li>
 <li>
 Power Generation experience preferred
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in SmartPlant 3D
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in AutoCAD or MicroStation
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience designing cable tray from concept to completion
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience in grounding systems
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience utilizing the NEC
 </li>
 <li>
 Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment

 Tracks and reports on design progression to project management and other members of the project

 Completes monthly reports for quantities, schedule and forecasting

 Interface with construction to ensure design is safe, constructible, and low cost
 </li>

 Coordinates with other disciplines, engineers and construction on the design
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to check design deliverables for accuracy, quality and adherence to department standards
 </li>
 <li>
 Utilize applicable engineering national and local codes
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordinates with project team by utilizing the Project Database: Request for Review Process, Holds List, ECN, Request for information from other disciplines, and all other applicable functions

 Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development

 Acts as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues

 Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design the conceptual of large power projects.

 Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners. Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award.

 Prepare electrical engineer designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations and conceptual design; utilizing standard methods and project principles.
 </li>

 Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.

 Work as a part of a large project team including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction superintendents to provide our Clients the industry&rsquo;s best of both engineering and physical design.
