<ul><li>Prepares and distributes unit dose medications, floor stock items and intravenous admixtures.

<li>Maintenance, re-stocking and troubleshooting of automated dispensing equipment.
</li><li>Controlled substance management and preparation.</li>
<li>Charges/credits patient medication.

<ul><li><div><div>The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible to assist the health care professional by performing various care activities and related nonclinical services. Provides assistance to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the delivery of patient care including caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient and family unit in a professional, courteous, supportive manner, under the general supervision of the Patient Care Manager or his/her designee.</div>
</div></li></ul></li><li><div><b>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Assists the RN/LPN with non-nursing tasks such as but not limited to crash cart checks, quality control checks, retrieving equipment/supplies, keeping the department clean and stocking of supplies.</div>
</li><li><div>Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties:</div></li>
<li><div>Assists the RN/LPN with routine patient care and treatment of patients as delegated by the RN/LPN or designee and under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN including, but not limited to vital signs, Intake Output, pain level assessment, administering enemas, applying hot/cold packs, glucoscans, height and weight, transporting, ambulating, answering call lights, cleaning equipment, sitting 1:1&rsquo;s, receiving patients in room, assisting in pre/post-operative care, assisting in admission/discharge activities and assisting in treatments.</div>
</li><li><div>Recognizes and practices within scope of certification and competency levels and relays any questions, concerns or situations requiring follow-up or attention to the supervising RN/LPN and seeks assistance when necessary.</div>
</li><li><div>Effectively communicates pertinent information in shift-to-shift and transfer reports and documents items in EPIC as indicated.</div>
</li></ul></li><li><div><b>EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</b></div>
<ul><li><div><div><b>Minimum requirement:</b></div>
<ul><li><div><div>High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant Program such as (SRNA), (STNA), (CNA) or other state.</div>
</div></li><li><div><div>Holds current certification as a State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) in the State of Kentucky.</div>
</div><ul><li><div><div><div><ul><li>Ohio STNA, WV CNA and other State Registered Nursing Assistant/Aide Certifications are accepted if transferred to KY SRNA prior to hire date.</li>
</ul></div></div></div></li></ul></li><li><div>Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.</div>
</li><li><div>Achieves and maintains Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 90 days of start.</div>

<ul><li><div><div>Administers respiratory therapy care to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardio-pulmonary system, as prescribed under supervision of Physician.</div>
</div></li></ul></li><li><div><b>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Carries out routine therapy as ordered by the Physician including, but not limited to, oxygen administration, aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry, sputum induction, mixed gases, invasive ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and airway management.</div>
</li><li><div>Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties:</div></li>
<li><div>Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosages.</div>
</li><li><div>Provides information and education to patient and family regarding therapy being performed.</div>
</li><li><div>Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with the physician's orders.</div>
</li><li><div>Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes and notifies physician of any adverse reactions.</div>
</li><li><div>Documents assessments and respiratory care provided in EPIC.</div>
</li><li><div>Assist in emergency care</div>
</li></ul></li><li><div><b>EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</b></div>
<ul><li><div><div><b>Minimum requirement:</b></div>
<ul><li><div>One year certificate from accredited college or technical school</div>
</li><li><div>Holds and maintains a Kentucky Respiratory Care Practitioner and/or other states as necessary.</div>
</li><li><div>Holds and maintains Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).</div>
</li><li><div>Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)</div>
</li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>Preferred qualifications:</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Associates Degree or higher in Respiratory Care</div>
</li><li><div>1 year experience in an acute care setting.</div>
