The Phlebotomist plays a pivotal role at Kinwell in coordinating and optimizing patient care by ensuring accurate specimen collection, seamless laboratory processes, and compliance with safety standards. This position supports Kinwell healthcare providers by completing clinician orders for laboratory testing, performing limited point-of-care testing, and preparing specimens for transport.</div></div><div></div><div><div><br>
This role qualifies for +7.5% pay differential for employees assigned to a home location in a qualifying Kinwell Clinic, which is currently our Ballard, Denny Way, and Westlake clinics.</div></div><div></div><div><div><i><br>
What </i><i>you&rsquo;ll</i><i> do:</i></div></div><div><ul><li><div>
Collect blood specimens using venipuncture and capillary techniques promptly and accurately.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Ensure proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and documentation.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Provide patient instructions for specimen collection (e.g., urine, stool) and post-phlebotomy care.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Prepare and package specimens for transport to outside labs.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen collection and equipment.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Dispose of biohazardous and sharps materials according to protocol.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Order and rotate supplies to prevent shortages or expired stock.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Perform CLIA-waived laboratory tests and maintain accurate records.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Conduct quality control and calibration procedures to ensure reliable results.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Participate in quality assurance activities, including proficiency testing and competency assessments.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>

Certification as a Medical Assistant-PBT (Phlebotomist) by time of hire.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Active Washington state certification through the Department of Health (DOH) as a Certified Medical Assistant- Phlebotomist.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
High school diploma or equivalent.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Documented training per CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1423.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
One year of experience as a Phlebotomist or performing whole blood collections.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care strongly preferred at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA), Red Cross, or Military Training Network (MTN) or willingness to obtain within 6-months of hire.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Experience with Quest Diagnostics.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Experience using EPIC. (Preferred)</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Understanding of CLIA practices and testing.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Ability to serve pediatric and elderly patients.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Demonstrated clinical expertise and proficiency in clinical procedures.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Demonstrated focus on ensuring quality in patient care.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail.</div></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><div>
