The Opportunity</b></p><p>
We are hiring a Controller to run the entire finance and accounting function for the company. We are in a growth mode, and this role is central to scaling the business. You will run the finance and accounting department, set the standard, and have a clear, earned path to Chief Financial Officer as you prove yourself.</p><p>
You will inherit an existing, highly capable accounting team and be responsible for leading, managing, and developing that team. We are looking for a top-tier financial leader and we are prepared to compensate accordingly.</p><p>
You will report directly to the Owner and the President.</p><p>

What You Will Own</b></p><ul><li>Full responsibility for the accounting and finance function, including the monthly close, financial reporting, and the integrity of the books</li><li>Leadership and management of an established, highly capable accounting team, including their continued development</li><li>Cash and accrual reporting, GAAP financial statements, and management reporting that leadership can run the business on</li><li>Cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning</li><li>Property-level and corporate accounting across a large multifamily portfolio</li><li>Banking, treasury, audit, and tax coordination with outside advisors</li><li>Internal controls, process improvement, and systems</li></ul><p>

Education</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required</li><li>CPA strongly preferred, but not required</li><li>Advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Accounting) a plus, but not required</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Qualifications and Requirements</b></p><ul><li>7+ years of progressive accounting leadership, including time in a Controller or senior accounting role</li><li>Proven experience leading, managing, and developing an accounting team</li><li>Multifamily, property management, or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred</li><li>Deep command of GAAP, the monthly close, and financial statement preparation</li><li>Hands-on experience with both cash and accrual reporting</li><li>Experience with property management accounting systems; Rent Manager is a plus</li><li>Track record of building and scaling finance functions in a high-growth environment a plus</li><li>Embraces and actively explores the use of AI and technology to drive efficiency and quality across the finance function</li><li>Comfortable reporting directly to ownership and operating with full accountability</li><li>In-person position at our Fridley office. Hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Skills</b></p><ul><li>Strong technical accounting and GAAP expertise</li><li>Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management</li><li>Team leadership and people development</li><li>Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency</li><li>Curiosity and fluency with AI tools to increase efficiency and improve quality of output</li><li>Sharp analytical skills with a high bar for accuracy and detail</li><li>Clear communicator with ownership and leadership</li><li>Process improvement, internal controls, and systems mindset</li></ul><p>
