Role Mission 
Under the guidance of the Shop Manager, the Manual Machinist will be responsible for machining parts for electric motors for various industries. 
 
Key Job Responsibilities<ul><li>
Setup and operation of machines to manually produce or repair parts.</li><li>
Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing and illustrations.</li><li>
Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes.</li><li>
Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.</li><li>
Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed.</li><li>
Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch, and stick welders.</li><li>
Set up and perform tool-post fringing operations (e.g. precision surface facing), broaching procedures and bearing work.</li><li>
Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.</li><li>
Perform outside field service repairs and estimating work as necessary.</li><li>
Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.)</li><li>
Keep work area clean and organized.</li><li>
Adhere to all company policies.</li><li>
All other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 

Competencies<ul><li>
Experience in rotating apparatus repair (AC and DC electric motors, pumps, blowers, etc.) preferably in an electric motor shop environment.</li><li>
Experience in manual machining of parts and pieces to produce or repair a product.</li><li>
Mechanical skills in troubleshooting, electrical theory and understanding of AC and DC motors desired.</li><li>
Must be able to lift, push and pull heavy objects and stand and walk with extended periods of time.</li><li>
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.</li><li>
Must have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>
High School Diploma is required. Technical Certification or associate&rsquo;s degree in a related field is preferred.</li></ul>
