<div>POSITION SUMMARY 
The Social Studies teacher will engage learners through rigorous, standards-based curriculum assessment. Instruction is based on the CA History Standards and key concepts. The teacher will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to prepare learners for college and career success through integrated technology, project-based learning, and a Digital Media Arts/Video Production theme. This is a full-time, exempt, non-year-round position. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Principal, the ideal candidate will drive student outcomes:
<ul>
<li>Promote an inclusive learning environment that builds tolerance and respect for different cultures and viewpoints</li>
<li>Use data-driven techniques to set realistic and aspirational goals for learners</li>
<li>Demonstrate content knowledge of the California Common Core Standards</li>
<li>Differentiate instruction and provide necessary accommodations and modifications for the growth and success of all learners</li>
<li>Facilitate effective group collaboration</li>
<li>Provide timely feedback to students based on formative and summative assessment data</li>
<li>Facilitate a classroom culture that fosters independent thinking and the ability to express original ideas and engage in civil discourse</li>
<li>Hold weekly office hours after school tutoring sessions</li>
<li>Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress</li>
<li>Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and community members</li> 
</ul>
Maintain strong classroom and school culture:
<ul>
<li>Communicate expectations for learners through clear and consistent methods</li>
<li>Uphold school-wide policies and systems for learning
</li><li>Create a positive and respectful learning environment</li>
<li>Communicate the importance of college success and the belief that students will succeed</li>
<li>Develop connectedness through Promise Time/Advisory curriculum</li>
<li>Engage in the school community through responsibilities outside of content area instruction</li>
<li>Collaborate with school leaders and teachers to address and resolve student issue</li>
<li>Contribute to the school community through meaningful engagement in weekly professional learning, team collaboration, and student activities</li> 
</ul>
Plan a rigorous curriculum and deliver strong instruction:
<ul>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the CA Common Core Standards</li>
<li>Execute high impact, evidence-based instructional strategies and scaffolds to meet the individual needs of learners</li>
<li>Monitor student growth and progress towards mastery of the standards through a continuous cycle of assessment, analysis and planning</li>
<li>Provide comprehensive daily and unit plans grounded in content standards and learning theory</li>
<li>Implement the adopted core curriculum and support school-wide instructional initiatives</li>
<li>Special projects and duties outside of primary teaching responsibility as assigned</li> 
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS

Education &amp; Experience
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required; advance degree in subject area preferred</li>
<li>Possession of a valid internship, preliminary, or clear California Single Subject teaching credential</li>
<li>Demonstrated success working with students from educationally underserved areas</li> 
</ul>

<li>Exceptional relationship building skills and the ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders</li>
<li>A strong belief that all students can succeed</li>
<li>A do-whatever-it takes attitude including a willingness to work occasionally on the weekend or in the evening</li>
<li>Passionate about improving public education to help all children reach their dreams</li>
<li>An exceptional ability to respond well to feedback and implement it immediately</li>
<li>A strong ethical base and self-awareness</li>
<li>Commitment to LA Promise Fund mission and Core Values of Integrity, Accountability, Collaboration, Professionalism, Excellence, Diversity and Fairness</li>
<li>Bilingual Spanish preferred</li>
<li>Must clear a LiveScan criminal background check</li>
<li>Must clear a TB Risk Assessment</li>
<li>Must complete Mandated Reporter training</li>
<li>COVID-19 Vaccination (recommended)</li></ul>
