</li></ul>Position Summary 
This position is a full-time position located in Lake County Community Planning &amp; Development. The Building Permit Technician is the front-line administrative and technical professional that serves as the primary bridge between the public, contractors, and the building department by processing building and ancillary permits and facilitating communication. 
 
General Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions<ul><li>
Application Intake<ul><li>
Review incoming building, mechanical, plumbing, solar, and roofing permits to ensure all required forms and documents are complete and properly processed.</li><li>
Review incoming contractor registration, short-term rental, and special event applications to ensure completeness and proper routing for technical review as applicable.</li></ul></li><li>
Ability to actively participate in onboarding of new e-permitting software</li><li>
Excellent verbal communication</li><li>
Website management.</li><li>
Strong organizational skills.</li><li>
Maintains and uses software permit and license management system</li><li>
Occasionally, serves as recording secretary for the Board of Review (BOR), which involves coordinating and attending meetings, preparing minutes and agendas, and maintaining the BOR website information.</li><li>
Action plan record keeping for CPD weekly office meetings.</li><li>
Responsible for end-of-the-month reports</li><li>
Financial support by administratively processing accounts payable and receivables</li><li>
Provide a high level of customer service</li><li>
Efficiently interview customers to determine needs required.</li><li>
Adequately explain permit requirements and procedures
</li><li>Prioritize and organize time effectively.</li><li>
Perform basic math quickly and accurately.
</li><li>Review construction and site plans for procedural completeness and general design adequacy.</li><li>
Software proficiency in MS Word and Outlook, with some knowledge of Excel and Teams</li><li>
Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.</li></ul>

Requirements 
Compensation will be determined by the applicants full skillset with consideration of the below:<ul><li>
High school diploma or GED.</li><li>
One 1-3 years of experience in municipal government, building construction, code compliance, or customer service.</li><li>
Preference given for candidates with an ICC Permit Technician certification.</li><li>
Ability to obtain ICC Permit Technician certificate within 12 months.</li><li>
Travel to conferences or events within and outside the State of Colorado.</li><li>
Proficiency preferred in English and Spanish.</li></ul>

Notice of Emergency/Disaster Responsibilities
All Lake County Employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker when a local declaration of emergency or disaster is declared by the Board of County Commissioners. To be prepared for this role, all employees and emergency service function (ESF) leads will attend emergency management trainings and exercises as requested by the Director of Emergency Management. With advanced notification from OEM, employees will make reasonable efforts to attend training events in coordination with other employees and supervisors.
