Job Summary:
Responsible for accessing, abstracting, coding and data entry of cancer patient data. Maintains all cancer registry functions in accordance with American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Guidelines. Conducts follow-up and case-finding as regulated by State agencies. Assists with Tumor Board/Cancer Conference and Cancer Committee

Job Requirements/Education:<ul><li>
Associates or Bachelors Degree in a related field, including Health Sciences, Transcription, Medical Coding, etc..</li><li>
At least one year experience in Medical Records or Tumor Registry.</li><li>
A minimum of 1 year of current cancer data abstraction experiences preferred</li></ul> 
Required Licenses:<ul><li>
Current Oncology Data Specialist certification or board eligibility preferred</li></ul> 
Required Skills:<ul><li>
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.</li><li>
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.</li><li>
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.</li></ul> 
Minimum Education<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required</li></ul> 
Essential Functions<ul><li>
Performs case-finding to identify all patients diagnosed and treated for any cancer diagnosis.
</li><li>Documents morphology coding of all histologic and maintains suspense file based on newly diagnosed cases from pathology reports.</li><li>
Abstracts and reports cancer patient data to Kentucky Cancer Registry and National Cancer database.</li><li>
Assists with Cancer Conference activities as needed, and Tumor Board agendas. Assists with meeting set-up and facilitation.</li><li>
Conducts cancer patient follow-up in accordance with State and National NCC guidelines.</li><li>
Maintains all cancer registry functions and assists with data request, quality studies and ACOS - Commission on Cancer guidelines for accreditation.</li></ul> 
Non-Essential Functions:
