The City of Spencer Public Library is looking for a part-time Library Clerk. Flexible hours, up to 29, to include every Saturday; and 2 evenings between Mon.-Thurs. $ 21.35/hour **This position is qualified to participate in IPERS!****PLEASE DO NOT APPLY AT LIBRARY FACILITY**Visit the City of Spencer website at www.spenceriowacity.com &gt; Careers to submit an application/resume.Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Perform general circulation tasks at front desk</li><li>Handle reference questions and readers advisor requests</li><li>Assist patrons with computer/Internet usage</li><li>Coordinate and process overdue material notices and phone calls</li><li>Cart and re-shelve books and other library materials</li><li>Clean CDs and DVDs</li><li>Process books for circulation</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Must be able to alphabetize, use and understand Dewey Decimal System</li><li>Must be able to work standing at front desk in 2-4 hour shifts</li><li>Must be able to cart, carry, and re-shelve books and other media</li><li>Computer skills are necessary</li><li>Phone etiquette and customer service skills are essential, including courtesy, tact, confidentiality, good judgment, and initiative</li><li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li><li>Library experience and/or State Library certification preferred</li></ul>Physical Requirements Sufficient clarity of speech &amp; hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively with others in person and over the telephone. Other physical activities include walking, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and finger dexterity. Work requires sitting and/or using various computer equipment 40% of the time and standing and/or walking 60% of the time. Frequently requires the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force, and infrequently requires the exertion of 10-50 pounds of force to lift or otherwise move objects. Requires sitting at a computer for several hours or standing at a desk for 2-4 hours at a time.Sufficient vision, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to prepare, review and file a variety of written documents in both electronic and hard copy forms.
