School Bus Fleet Diesel Powertrain Specialist

Schedule:</b> Primary schedule is 3rd shift, 10:30 pm &ndash; 6:30 pm (start time can be slightly flexible). Open to different shifts. Initial training will begin on a Monday&ndash;Friday first-shift schedule.</p><p><b>

When the yard quiets down, you go to work keeping our Peterbilt tractors and tanker trailers mission-ready. You move methodically: inspect, diagnose, repair, document. You keep preventative maintenance on schedule, catch issues before they disrupt routes, and drive down cost-per-mile without compromising safety or compliance. You leave every bay cleaner than you found it and every unit readier for the road.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
What you&rsquo;ll take on</b></h2><ul><li>
Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet trucks, tankers, and related equipment to meet DOT and company standards</li><li>
Execute and track preventive maintenance; schedule permits, registrations, annual tank tests, vehicle inspections, and safety equipment checks (including fire extinguishers)</li><li>
Maintain accurate fleet records in line with company and regulatory requirements</li><li>
Order parts and manage garage inventory to minimize downtime</li><li>
Keep shop tools and work areas orderly, safe, and ready for use</li><li>
Identify warranty opportunities, complete warranty repairs, and assist with reimbursement recovery</li><li>
Support initiatives to control and reduce fleet maintenance expenses</li><li>
Contribute to other projects and assignments as directed by fleet leadership</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
What you bring</b></h2><ul><li>
Prefer 2+ years as a diesel tractor&ndash;trailer mechanic</li><li>
Tanker and Hazmat experience preferred; higher pay available for demonstrated skill</li><li>
Hands-on experience with Peterbilt trucks and tanker trailers</li><li>
Full complement of personal tools</li><li>
Air Brake Certification</li><li>
