Position Summary
The Social Media + Communications Coordinator supports the day-to-day execution of Laurel School&rsquo;s marketing and communications efforts, with primary responsibility for social media publishing and communications operations. This role plays a critical coordination and execution function within the Marketing &amp; Communications team ensuring that content is shared consistently, communications are accurate and timely, and projects move forward smoothly.
This position is ideal for an early-career communications professional who is highly organized, digitally fluent, and excited by storytelling, social media platforms, and working in a dynamic school environment. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Marketing &amp; Communications, Creative Director, Content &amp; PR Manager, and Website &amp; SEO Manager to support the school&rsquo;s brand, voice, and engagement goals.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Execution<ul><li>
Manage the day-to-day execution of Laurel School&rsquo;s social media presence across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others as appropriate).</li><li>
Schedule and publish posts using established content calendars and brand guidelines.</li><li>
Monitor engagement, comments, and messages and route items as appropriate.</li><li>
Capture and curate photos and short-form video content from campus events and daily school life.</li><li>
Assist with creating and editing reels and other short-form video using templates and basic editing tools.</li><li>
Track basic social media analytics and trends and share insights with the team.</li></ul>
Communications &amp; Content Operations<ul><li>
Assist with formatting, proofreading, and scheduling internal and external communications, including newsletters, announcements, and event communications.</li><li>
Support the preparation and distribution of mass email communications using established platforms and templates.</li><li>
Manage the marketing request intake process and help track timelines and deliverables.</li><li>
Triage the general communications inbox (e.g., info@) and route inquiries appropriately.</li><li>
Maintain shared communications calendars and content schedules.</li></ul>
Creative &amp; Production Support<ul><li>
Create and revise simple graphics using established templates and brand guidelines (Canva, InDesign, or similar tools).</li><li>
Resize and format assets for use across digital platforms.</li><li>
Support the Creative Director with production tasks, asset preparation, and organization.</li><li>
Maintain organized digital libraries for photos, videos, and design assets.</li></ul>
Web &amp; Digital Support<ul><li>
Upload content to the website and assist with basic page updates under the direction of the Website &amp; SEO Manager.</li><li>
Support form setup, content posting, and basic analytics reporting as requested.</li><li>
Assist Website &amp; SEO Manager with troubleshooting (no coding or technical experience necessary).</li></ul>
Administrative &amp; Project Support<ul><li>
Support project coordination by tracking timelines, deadlines, and deliverables for MarCom initiatives.</li><li>
Assist with RSVP tracking, mailing list preparation, and logistics for marketing-led events and campaigns.</li>
Support Marketing &amp; Communications Team needs as needed (office supply ordering, product research, and the like)

Requirements:
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.</li><li>
2-3 years of experience working in marketing, communications or related field.</li><li>
Strong writing, proofreading, and organizational skills.</li><li>
Comfort using Google Workspace, social media platforms (including scheduling software), and digital collaboration tools.</li><li>
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Strong attention to detail and follow-through.</li><li>
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow within a collaborative team.</li><li>
Experience using Canva, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.</li><li>
Familiarity with email platforms, CMS tools, or project management systems.</li><li>
Interest in education, storytelling, and mission-driven work.</li></ul>
