Pay Range
$79,776 - $148,608 annually
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Job Description</h3>
We have an opening for a Software Developer. You will work on new and emerging enterprise web applications supporting critical business applications that support the mission of the Laboratory. You will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of Commercial of the Shelf (COTS) packages and sophisticated Java-based Web Application Services with JavaScript-based Angular UI&rsquo;s. This position is in the Enterprise Applications Services (EAS) Division within the Computing Directorate, in support of the LivIT Business Enablement Program Area.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
You will<ul><li>
Contribute to the development of a range of web-based applications/projects including analytical, graphical user interface, database, and visualization applications.</li><li>
Participate in the requirements definition, analysis, design, implementation, debugging, testing, and optimization of web-based applications.</li><li>
Participate in the requirements definition, analysis, implementation, debugging, testing, and configuration of COTS applications.</li><li>
Utilizes independent judgement to contribute to the fulfillment of technical projects and organizational objectives, functioning as an effective team member on multi-disciplinary teams.</li><li>
Engage with other developers frequently to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations for solutions</li><li>
Support critical business functions through the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications and systems using the latest tools and technologies such as Java, Play Framework, Spring Boot, JDBC, JavaScript, TOAD, Hibernate, SQL, Oracle, and other related technologies.</li><li>
Follow established software development standards and contribute to the future improvement of these standards.</li><li>
Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Qualifications</h3>
<ul><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience</li><li>
Foundational experience in software development using one or more programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, SQL, and/or PL/SQL</li><li>
Basic familiarity with modern software frameworks and libraries (e.g. Play Framework, JPA, Angular)</li><li>
Basic understanding of the software project life cycle including feasibility, requirements, design, implementation, integration, test and deployment.</li><li>
Experience using common development tools such as Jira, Git, IntelliJ, and/or TOAD or SQL Developer.</li><li>
Fundamental interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel and ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team environment.</li><li>
Sufficient verbal and written communication skills required for effective team collaboration.</li></ul>
Qualifications We Desire<ul><li>
Familiarity with LLNL policies and procedures, as well as business processes and operations.</li></ul>

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. L-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
