The Schedule:

This position offers some flexibility through a hybrid work model but is primarily required to report to work onsite 4 days/week. The schedule is subject to change at any time based on operational need and at management&rsquo;s discretion.

The Opportunity - Human Resources Generalist (New York):

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, this position plays a key role in supporting the full employee lifecycle, partnering with leaders and team members to drive engagement, enforce compliance, and support organizational effectiveness. This position is responsible for administering HR programs including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits, and policy implementation. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in HR practices, sound judgment, and a proactive, service-oriented approach. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing organization by fostering a positive workplace culture and aligning people strategies with business objectives.

This position provides on-site support for our New York LeadCar&reg; affiliate locations, LeadCar GMC Utica (Utica, NY) and LeadCar Honda Yorkville (Yorkville, NY). This position may include occasional back-up support for our locations in Pennsylvania, in partnership with the Human Resources Generalist that primarily supports those locations.

Primary Responsibilities

Talent Management:
<ul>
<li>Attract and retain top talent through effective talent management practices to include creating job postings, screening candidates, scheduling and conducting interviews, checking references and preparing conditional job offers.</li>
<li>Partner with hiring managers to understand their needs, recommend recruitment strategy and assist with hiring decision.</li>
<li>Analyze candidate background and interview materials and assess organizational fit to highlight pros and cons of candidates for hiring managers.</li>
<li>Assist in development of behavioral-based interviewing materials.</li>
<li>Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations and exit interviews.</li>
<li>Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all required new hire forms, policies and training.</li>
<li>Process new hires, terminations and employee changes. Partner with the Payroll Administrator to review changes to employee information.</li>
<li>Maintain Applicant Tracking System (ATS), organizational charts and other relevant employee information and reporting.</li>
</ul>
Compensation &amp; Benefits:
<ul>
<li>Prepare and analyze pay plans and job descriptions, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws and regulations.</li>
<li>Advise and assist management and employees with benefit questions. Act as a liaison between employees and insurance providers to resolve benefit related issues and ensure positive relations.</li>
<li>Process time-off requests through HRIS including FMLA, Worker&rsquo;s Compensation and ADA. Partner with the Payroll Administrator to maintain alignment with benefit programs.</li>
<li>Administer benefits plans including enrollments, terminations and changes.</li>
<li>Process monthly billings for all benefit plans. Review bills for accuracy and compile reports as needed.</li>
<li>Coordinate quarterly retirement plan enrollment meetings.</li>
<li>Communicate initial enrollments and qualifying events with COBRA Administrator and reconcile accounts receivable account.</li>
<li>Prepare worker&rsquo;s compensation paperwork and conduct through investigation of all reported injuries.</li>
<li>Process unemployment insurance paperwork in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and reporting requirements covering the benefit plans.</li>
</ul>
Performance Management:
<ul>
<li>Partner with managers to coach them with employee performance evaluations.</li>
<li>Facilitate coaching sessions with managers, assisting with motivating employees, communicating performance and appropriately addressing and resolving employee issues.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders by providing guidance on employee relations matters, ensuring consistent and fair application of company policies and practices.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Create Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) in conjunction with managers to give employees the opportunity to succeed while still holding them accountable for past performance.</li>
<li>Ensure managers have open dialogue and provide consistent feedback.</li>
<li>Conduct thorough, impartial workplace investigations, including gathering statements, analyzing findings, and documenting outcomes in accordance with legal and organizational standards.</li>
<li>Interpret company policies, procedures, and past practice to provide clear, practical recommendations that support sound decision-making and compliance with company policy as well as state and federal employment laws.</li>
<li>Partner with leadership to resolve employee concerns, address performance or conduct issues, and promote a positive and compliant work environment</li>
<li>Work with managers to review and recommend terminations. Exercise care that reasons are well documented and are not arbitrary or discriminatory.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Proactively identify trends in employee relations issues and recommend solutions, training, or policy enhancements to improve organizational effectiveness</li>
</ul>
HR Support:
<ul>

<li>Serve as an advisor to employees and managers with human resources policies and procedures. Assist in development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Maintain and monitor access to all human resources related files including personnel, medical, unemployment and other related employee files.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring documentation aligns with company standards and supports defensible decision-making</li>
<li>Complete verification of employment requests.</li>
<li>Stay abreast of federal, state and local employment regulations.</li>
<li>Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
What We Are Seeking:

Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li>A Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Human Resources or related field, with a minimum of 1 year related Human Resources experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources required.</li>
<li>3 years Human Resources experience strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Society for Human Resources Management &ndash; Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.</li>
</ul>
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
<ul>
<li>Working knowledge of human resources principles and practices, including familiarity with federal and state employment laws and New York&ndash;specific leave requirements</li>
<li>Ability to consistently apply company policies and procedures, using sound judgment and escalating more complex issues appropriately</li>
<li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and provide effective day-to-day support to employees and managers</li>
<li>Well-developed organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines</li>

<li>Ability to adapt in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and multiple deadlines</li>
<li>Ability to support employee relations matters and assist with investigations in a fair, objective, and professional manner</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation</li>
<li>Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high level of professionalism</li>
</ul><ul><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to quickly learn HRIS and other HR technologies</li>
