We&rsquo;re looking for an experienced Paint Operations Supervisor to lead daily paint shop operations, drive quality excellence, and ensure production goals are met safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in delivering flawless finishes, overseeing paint processes from surface preparation through finishing, ensuring production outputs meet required standards for quality, cost, safety, and delivery. The supervisor provides day-to-day leadership, ensures compliance with Legacy Cabinet&rsquo;s policies and regulatory requirements, and drives continuous improvement across the department.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership<ul><li>
Manage daily paint shop operations including scheduling, staffing, resource allocation, and production coordination.</li><li>
Monitor workflow to ensure efficiency, identify bottlenecks, and adjust assignments to meet production goals.</li><li>
Oversee paint application processes including surface prep, masking, priming, coating, curing, drying, and final finishing.</li><li>
Validate that all work is performed according to work instructions, process sheets, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.</li><li>
Ensure accurate completion of production records, logs, timecards, and equipment checklists.</li><li>
Coordinate with Production Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality departments to ensure smooth operations.</li></ul>
Personnel Management<ul><li>
Direct, coach, and evaluate a team of painters, helpers, and support staff.</li><li>
Conduct new-hire training, ongoing cross-training, and skills certification for all paint shop employees.</li><li>
Provide performance feedback, disciplinary actions, and coaching in accordance with HR policies.</li><li>
Facilitate daily shift huddles, team meetings, and communication updates.</li><li>
Manage attendance, timekeeping, and staffing adjustments for vacations, sick days, and overtime needs.</li><li>
Promote a positive work culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.</li></ul>
Quality Assurance<ul><li>
Ensure all painted components meet internal and external quality standards (e.g., thickness, adhesion, finish, color match, cure time).</li><li>
Conduct in-process and final paint inspections, documenting any defects and implementing root-cause corrective actions.</li><li>
Collaborate with the Quality Department on audits, quality alerts, and customer complaints.</li><li>
Maintain paint test equipment (e.g., mil gauges, adhesion testers) and verify calibration status.</li><li>
Lead initiatives to reduce rework, scrap, and nonconformances through improved process control.</li></ul>
Safety &amp; Environmental Compliance<ul><li>
Enforce all safety protocols, including PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, and chemical handling guidelines.</li><li>
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly EHS inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.</li><li>
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company environmental standards regarding flammable materials, ventilation, and waste disposal.</li><li>
Maintain accurate documentation of MSDS/SDS, hazardous waste logs, safety training, and incident reports.</li><li>
Lead or participate in accident investigations, implement corrective actions, and track safety KPIs.</li></ul>
Equipment &amp; Facility Management<ul><li>
Oversee operation and preventive maintenance for spray booths, paint guns, curing ovens, ventilation systems, compressors, and other paint equipment.</li><li>
Coordinate maintenance requests and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime.</li><li>
Maintain clean, organized, and compliant work areas using 5S or similar lean programs.</li><li>
Manage inventory of paints, coatings, solvents, filters, PPE, and consumables; ensure materials are stored and labeled properly.</li></ul>
Process &amp; Continuous Improvement<ul><li>
Use lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, standard work, value stream mapping) to improve workflow and productivity.</li><li>
Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), best practices, and training materials.</li><li>
Evaluate new equipment, paint products, and technologies to improve quality and reduce costs.</li><li>
Track and report departmental KPIs, including cycle time, yield, scrap levels, labor efficiency, safety incidents, and on-time delivery.</li><li>
Lead improvement projects focused on equipment reliability, throughput, and workplace organization.</li></ul>
Requirements:

 Education &amp; Experience:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>
Minimum 3&ndash;5 years of experience in industrial painting or coatings operations.</li><li>
Understanding of curing ovens, spray booth airflow, prep processes, and material mixing ratios.</li><li>
Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office, ERP systems, production software).</li></ul>
Physical Requirements:<ul><li>
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, or walk for extended periods.</li><li>
Ability to lift-up to 50 lbs. regularly.</li><li>
Ability to work in areas with fumes, dust, heat, and noise (with proper PPE).</li><li>
Must be able to wear respirators and other protective equipment as required.</li><li>
Ability to work shift schedules, including overtime or weekends as needed.</li></ul>
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):<ul><li>
Quality: first-pass yield, defect rates, rework percentage.</li><li>
Productivity: output vs. production targets, cycle times, labor efficiency.</li><li>
Safety: incident rate, near-miss reporting, compliance audit scores.</li><li>
Cost: scrap reduction, paint consumption control, overtime management.</li><li>
