<div>Summary: This is professional position providing legal services for the County. This position will be independently responsible for the defense of juvenile and/or adult defendants through all phases of representation from the inception of the case through disposition and appeals. Duties will include, but are not limited to, pre-trial investigations, research, client interviews, trial preparation work, document preparation, filing of pre-trial and post-trial motions, trying of cases before Magisterial District Judges, Judges of the Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Masters, and appeal.

Have a general understanding of the Crimes Code, Vehicle Code, PA Rules of Evidence, PA Rules of Criminal Procedure;</li><li>

Ability to relate to indigent clients;</li><li>
Attend and represent indigent defendants at the Magisterial and trial levels including preliminary hearings, probation and parole hearings, pre-trial hearings, bail, trial and post-trial proceedings;</li><li>
Attend and represent juveniles in all phases of the juvenile system including detention and adjudication proceedings;</li><li>
Meet with clients whether out on bail or in the Lehigh County Jail;</li></ul>

Qualifications: Must be an active member of the PA Bar and in good standing;<ul><li>
Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle;</li><li>
Must be able to pass Child Clearance;</li><li>

Doctoral degree (Ph. D.) or equivalent; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li></ul>

Attorney I, Public Defender

<div>Summary: This is investigative work at the full-performance level for the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office. A position in this class conducts investigations for use in prosecuting criminal cases involving stolen motor vehicles and related offenses. Work includes conducting auto theft and auto theft-related investigations, interviewing suspects and witnesses, collecting evidence, conducting surveillance and making arrests. The auto theft detective position is multi-faceted. This position is responsible for filing criminal charges, apprehending suspects, and testifying in court as needed. This position reports directly to a Chief Criminal Investigator. 
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. 
<ul><li>
Thorough knowledge of criminal investigations goals and objectives, principles and practices.</li><li>
Knowledge of techniques and methods commonly employed in interviewing individuals who may be resistant and hostile to providing information.</li><li>
Knowledge of the judicial process, including the rules of procedure and evidence and shall keep current with the state of the law as it relates to auto theft investigations.</li><li>
Experience locating and recovering stolen vehicles, identifying vehicle theft trends, conducting chop shop investigations, identifying stolen vehicles that been disguised through VIN altering and/or title washing, fraudulent vehicle purchases, investigating carjackings.</li><li>
Ability to develop a comprehensive case from beginning to end while complying with all statutory and judicial restrictions in said investigation.</li><li>
Ability to apprehend and detain individuals, establish and maintain copious records, and prepare complete reports from the same.</li><li>
Ability to testify in any and all required court proceedings.</li><li>
Ability to cooperate and work well with others including municipal police departments, Pennsylvania State Police and federal agencies.</li></ul> 
Education/Experience: 
<ul><li>
Education equivalent to completion of two years of full-time study at the post high school level in criminal justice, law enforcement or a closely-related field.</li><li>
Two to four years investigative experience in a law enforcement, criminal justice or related organization.</li><li>
Or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities cited above</li><li>
Possession of Certification issued by the Municipal Police Officer Training Commission.</li><li>
Must possession Act 120 Certification issued by the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission or Waiver Qualified Experience</li></ul></div>

County Detective - Auto Theft Task Force

<div>Summary: This is investigative work at the full-time performance level for the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office Insurance Fraud Task Force. A position in this class conducts criminal investigations for use in prosecuting cases exclusively involving fraudulent insurance claims and applications. Work includes interviewing witnesses and suspects, collecting evidence, generating investigative reports, and filing criminal charges. This position works closely with various agencies to deter and prevent insurance fraud. This position reports directly to a Chief Criminal Investigator. 
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. 
<ul><li>
Thorough knowledge of criminal investigations goals and objectives, principles and practices.</li><li>
Conducting investigations into potentially fraudulent insurance claims involving auto, homeowner's, workers' compensation, healthcare and related insurance fields.</li><li>
Reviewing all information received from insurance companies in relation to fraudulent claims and/or fraudulent insurance applications</li><li>
Knowledge of techniques and methods commonly employed in interviewing individuals who may be resistant and hostile to providing information.</li><li>
Knowledge of the judicial process, including the rules of procedure and evidence and shall keep current with the state of the law as it relates to insurance fraud investigations.</li><li>
Ability to develop a comprehensive case from beginning to end while complying with all statutory and judicial restrictions in said investigation.</li><li>
Ability to apprehend and detain individuals, establish and maintain copious records, and prepare complete reports from the same.</li><li>
Ability to testify in any and all required court proceedings.</li><li>
Ability to cooperate and work well with others including the Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority, the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force, the Office of the Attorney General, National Insurance Crime Bureau, municipal police departments, Pennsylvania State Police, numerous insurance companies and federal agencies.</li></ul>

County Detective - Insurance Fraud Task Force

<div>This is an advanced professional legal and supervisory position performing legal services as a criminal prosecutor in the office of the District Attorney. Work involves prosecuting cases and supervising a group of subordinate professional employees. This position includes assisting law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations and charging decisions. It also includes the prosecution of cases at all levels of the criminal system from Magisterial District Judge to Appellate level disposition. Trials before a jury or a judge are expected. This position is differentiated from similar positions in its class because of the responsibility to supervise and mentor less experienced prosecutors.
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.<ul><li>
Performs legal research and prepares cases for trial or non-trial disposition as deemed appropriate.</li><li>
Prepares, drafts, reviews, revises and approves search warrants, arrest warrants, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.</li><li>
Works with law enforcement agencies during criminal investigations to guide and assist the on-going investigation.</li><li>
Prepares and presents witnesses and evidence to a county wide Grand Jury.</li><li>
Evaluates criminal cases for appropriate disposition and reviews dispositions proposed by subordinate attorneys in the office.</li><li>
Prepares and presents misdemeanor and felony cases for jury trial.</li><li>
Supervises, mentors, advises, and assists subordinate attorneys as needed.</li></ul>
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Attorney IV has supervisory responsibility for approximately 3-6 direct reports.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:<ul><li>
Juris Doctorate (J.D.)</li><li>
Member in good standing of the PA Bar.</li><li>
