 Main Purpose Of The Role
 
 
 
 L&eacute;man Manhattan Preparatory School is seeking an enthusiastic full-time Middle School English teacher. The ideal candidate will have an excellent knowledge of English language and literature, and the skills to deliver the curriculum effectively to a wide ability-range of Upper School students. As a school we seek to find an individual who is committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. Applicants should have an undergraduate degree or masters in a related field.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities Include
 
 
 
 Teach a combination of 5 Middle School classes, guide an advisory, keep accurate grades using Standard Based Grading, communicate with students and families with feedback and progress on academic learning throughout the year.
 
 
 
 The Middle School English Teacher Is Expected To
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive.
 </li>
 <li>
 Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students.
 </li>
 <li>
 Identify students who need additional academic assistance and be able to refer such students appropriately.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide opportunities for student expression using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communication.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide a safe learning environment in which students can take intellectual risks.
 </li>
 <li>
 Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate.
 </li>
 <li>
 Create an environment that is respectful and fosters a global mindset.
 </li>
 <li>
 Attend functions in support of school and community.
 </li>
 <li>
 Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Highly developed presentation skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments.
 </li>
 <li>
 Highly developed collaborative leadership skills and the ability to work well with and through others.
 </li>
 <li>
 Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate expectations that are clearly articulated to the students.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Master&rsquo;s Degree preferred.
 </li>
 <li>
 Minimum of two year&rsquo;s upper school teaching experience required.
 </li>
 </ul>
