We are currently seeking an Accountant &ndash; Accounts Payable to join our team of experienced accounting professionals. Reporting directly to and supervised by our Controller, the Accountant &ndash; Accounts Payable will focus primarily on accounts payable, managing the processing and accounting for all the bills for the vendors in our large multiservice nonprofit organization. This Accountant will then have the opportunity to train in other accounting areas (e.g., Payroll, Budgeting, Audit, Program Accounting, and more) and perform an interesting mix of functions that support our historic settlement house. This is an excellent opportunity for an Accountant to learn and grow at one of New York&rsquo;s premier nonprofits and make a very real difference in improving the lives of 16,000 people in need.
 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:<ul><li>
Manage Accounts Payable using Financial Edge Software</li><li>
Maintain relationships with key vendors</li><li>
Analyze invoices, code and process for payment</li><li>
Perform other key programmatic accounting functions as needed</li><li>
Provide support in the areas of financial reporting, annual budgeting process, audits, grant compliance and financial operations</li><li>
Prepare and process journal entries</li><li>
Reconcile credit card transactions</li><li>
Prepare and file 1099</li></ul>
Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting</li><li>
CPA a plus</li><li>
Minimum of two years&rsquo; experience required</li><li>
Sound knowledge of general and nonprofit-specific accounting principles and procedures</li><li>
Advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and SUMIFS Functions)</li>
High proficiency in the use of financial software applications<li>-Financial Edge preferred</li><li>
Nonprofit accounting experience is strongly preferred</li></ul>
Salary: $75,000 annually
