NATURE OF WORK <br>
<br>
Under general supervision, performs a variety of court reporting duties on behalf of the Lewis County Superior Court; records various types of court proceedings; prepares court transcripts; and performs other related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: <br>
<br>
The following duties are the fundamental, crucial job duties performed by this position. This is not a comprehensive list of all tasks that may be assigned. Incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned and appropriate for the position. <br>
<br>
&bull; Produces verbatim records of civil, criminal, and/or juvenile court proceedings. &bull; Maintains compliance with regulations and standards governing court reporting. &bull; Prepares and researches court transcripts. &bull; Provides transcripts as requested by litigants, attorneys, judges, and other interested <br>
<br>
parties. &bull; Performs record keeping and/or other duties as assigned by the Judge or Court <br>
<br>
Administrator. <br>

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: <br>
<br>
Work is performed in and around courtroom facilities; subject to sitting for extended periods of <br>
<br>
time, bending, reaching, and light lifting of objects up to 10 pounds. <br>
<br>
QUALIFICATIONS: <br>
<br>
REQUIRED: Completion of a State accredited court reporting school; AND four (4) year's court reporting experience. Washington State CCR License and a Notary Public License are required. <br>

&bull; Answers incoming calls and provides customer service at the front counter and via telephone. &bull; Responds to inquiries and provides information regarding District Court processes and procedures. &bull; Receives, documents, and receipts payments for Court fees, fines, bail, and penalties; balances and maintains <br>
<br>
assigned cash drawer. &bull; Interacts with defendants, victims, attorneys, law enforcement personnel, and/or the media regarding a <br>
<br>
variety of court related matters. &bull; Enters and files infractions, small claims, name change, and/or civil cases; prepares and files bankruptcy <br>
<br>
claims as assigned; logs and files search warrants; processes Writs of Garnishment. &bull; Assists in entering criminal cases filed by the Washington State Patrol, Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Lewis County Prosecutor's Office, Fish and Game, and/or local Cities. <br>
<br>
<ul><li>Reviews, collates, and presents filed civil documents for signature by the Judge; processes and distributes related documents upon approval by the Judge. </li></ul><br>
<ul><li>Updates and maintains the Court's calendars; schedules motions to vacate, small claim returns, name changes, and civil infraction hearings. </li></ul><br>
&bull; Coordinates the assignment of public defenders to qualified parties. &bull; Tracks, monitors, and closes out non-probation supervised criminal cases as assigned. &bull; Performs the duties of Courtroom Clerk as required; records and maintains hearing minutes. &bull; Opens and distributes incoming departmental mail; performs filing and other general office duties. <br>
