Position Summary

The Paint Foreman is responsible for proper surface preparation, painting and accurate distribution of all fabricated material as per the contract specifications. This position is deemed &lsquo;safety sensitive&rsquo; due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee&rsquo;s co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Efficiently supervises and coordinates daily activities of painters, painter trainees and blast equipment operators in accordance with daily job schedules and job applicable specifications.</li>
<li>Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all paint and blasting equipment. Ensures all operators are properly instructed on the safe operation and maintenance of equipment.</li>
<li>Responsible for reviewing the job applicable contract cleaning and painting specifications.</li>
<li>Responsible for cleaning and painting of all fabricated material.</li>
<li>Ensures proper testing procedures are used in compliance with contract specifications and maintains accurate records in accordance with AISC standards.</li>
<li>Prepares fabricated products for shipment.</li>
<li>Orders job applicable paint and supplies.</li>
<li>Responsible for ensuring the adherence to all company safety and OSHA regulations. Must maintain a thorough knowledge of company Quality Assurance and Safety Manuals.</li>
<li>The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications

High School diploma of equivalent with a certificate from Vo-Tech. Minimum of 5 years&rsquo; industrial surface preparation and coating experience. Must have 2 years supervisory experience in an industrial paint shop. Must have a thorough knowledge of sophisticated paint systems required in an AISC certified (with Paint Endorsement) steel fabrication shop. Must be able to read and comprehend fabrication drawings. Must have scheduling, supervisory and equipment maintenance experience. Must have working knowledge of AISC, AASHTO and SSPC standards. Must have ability to effectively read a tape measure, work in fractions and meet deadlines. Good organizational skills required. Minimum of 3 years tenure with previous employer.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift at least 100 pounds. Job requires a considerable amount of climbing, pulling, pushing, crawling, bending and stooping, etc. Exposed to temperature fluctuations and loud noises. Requires overtime and weekend work. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
