JOB SUMMARY
The Osceola Library System has an opening for a Library Associate in Kissimmee, Florida. The Library Associate is the Library&rsquo;s front line position and is responsible for the overall customer service focus of the Library. LAs assist patrons at service points, in the stacks, and during programs, classes and outreaches, in addition to maintaining a neat collection, helping with technology questions, and supporting a love of reading and learning. The LA is a team player who works well with others, is a patient and outgoing person that likes helping people in a diverse community, an enthusiastic self-starter needing little supervision, and is great with technology.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES<ul><li>
Provides excellent customer service.</li>
Assists patrons with all Library transactions <li>- including cash handling, checking in/out items, processing the transfer of materials from branch to branch, issuing library cards, collecting fees, promoting reading and learning.</li><li>
Provides instruction in the use of the Library and its services and resources; connects patrons to services and resources through personal assistance.</li><li>
Supports Library programs and events via promotional, marketing and outreach efforts in and out of the Library.</li><li>
Shelves materials and maintains a tidy and orderly collection.</li><li>
Addresses or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management.</li><li>
Knows and understands the American Library Association&rsquo;s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library. In addition to these freedoms, supports client discretion of materials available at your local library(ies).</li><li>
Follows all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.</li><li>

Diploma or GED</li><li>Two years of library experience preferred</li><li>Basic knowledge of library systems and databases preferred</li><li>Excellent customer service skills</li><li>Comfort with technology, including computers, cell phones and Microsoft Office Suite</li><li>Good communication skills, both written and verbal</li><li>Bilingual Spanish/English a plus</li><li>Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include a combination of daytime, evening, and weekend hours.</li></ul>

Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves.</li><li>

Library - Associate II

<div>Description:

Reporting to the Library Outreach Associate 3 and under the supervision of the Senior Library Outreach Associate, the Library Outreach Associate 2 plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Library Connect services. This position primarily entails delivering library services, overseeing collection maintenance, and contributing to general library programming along designated bookmobile routes.

Responsibilities<ul><li>
Operate the Library Connect van to transport it safely to designated sites across Riverside County, ensuring adherence to traffic laws and regulations.</li><li>
Assist patrons with book checkouts, inquiries, and other library services on the Library Connect van.</li><li>
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Library Connect van, including shelving books and materials.</li><li>
Assist in managing the inventory and condition of Library Connect materials and resources.</li><li>
Ensure that library materials are properly organized and accessible to patrons.</li><li>
Support general library programming efforts, including setting up displays and assisting with program logistics.</li><li>
Engage with patrons of all ages, providing assistance, information, and a welcoming environment.</li><li>
Address patron inquiries and concerns with professionalism and sensitivity.</li><li>
Assist with the Library Connect routes and stops logistics, including setup and breakdown procedures.</li><li>
Communicate any immediate needs or issues related to the Library Connect van or its services to the Library Outreach Associate 3 or Senior Library Outreach Associate.</li><li>
Collaborate with the Library Outreach Associate 3 to ensure the smooth operation of the Library Connect programs and services.</li><li>
Work cooperatively with other team members to achieve program goals and objectives.</li><li>
Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and mission of the Riverside County Library and Literacy Services.</li></ul>
Requirements:

Under direction from management, the Library Associate 2 performs a variety of moderately complex technical and paraprofessional duties in support of various sections/functions of the library; primarily at the circulation desk. Provides customer service to library patrons.

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.<ul><li>
Provides customer service by welcoming and registering patrons, issuing library cards, checking out materials and managing patron accounts</li><li>
