The ESOL Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction, including classes and individual tutoring sessions for immigrants in Saratoga, Washington and Warren Counties in upstate New York. This role involves developing curriculum and teaching materials, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment.Schedule: Wil work 10-20 hours/week with flexible scheduling, occasional weekends required.Job Duties:1. Provide ESOL Instruction: - Plan and conduct ESOL classes for diverse groups of learners. - Tailor lessons to students' proficiency levels and learning goals. - Provide individual tutoring sessions as needed.2. Assess and Track Student Progress: - Evaluate students' English proficiency using standardized assessments. - Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress and complete required data collection in accordance with state standards.3. Collaborate with Immigrant Services Staff: - Coordinate with staff to identify student needs and refer to additional services.4. Develop Curriculum and Materials: - Create engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that align with program goals. - Integrate virtual tools and resources as needed to support instruction.5. Support Program Outreach: - Assist with recruiting participants and promoting classes within the community.Knowledge, skills and abilities:&middot; CELTA/TEFL/TESOL (120-hour) certificate, OR two years of demonstrated ESOL teaching experience. Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree preferred.&middot; Bilingual/bicultural proficiency in Spanish and English is required; additional language proficiency is a plus.&middot; Strong understanding of and ability to connect with new American populations.&middot; Commitment to equity, diversity, and addressing systemic barriers to economic mobility.&middot; Experience in supervising staff and coordinating volunteers.&middot; Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license, reliable vehicle and be insurable to operate agency vehicles.There will be a legally permissible background check for the successful candidate.The Department of Immigrant Services at LifeWorks Community Action has supported immigrants and their families in Saratoga, Washington, and Warren Counties for over twenty years.
