How you&rsquo;ll contribute
A Staff Accountant II who excels in this role:<ul><li>
Prepare, review, and post journal entries for assigned hospitals and facility portfolios.</li><li>
Manage the monthly journal entry process for approximately two assigned facilities, ensuring entries are accurate, supported, and completed according to established close timelines.</li><li>
Partner closely with Site Liaisons, facility leadership, HSC teams, and other LBS accounting teams throughout the month-end close process.</li><li>
Review journal entries for appropriate approvals, supporting documentation, and accounting validity.</li><li>
Perform general ledger and subledger analysis, research accounting variances, and investigate transaction activity.</li><li>
Utilize reporting tools (including OTBI and Oracle reporting functionality) to research transactions and support accounting analyses.</li><li>
Maintain compliance with month-end close checklists and ensure all assigned tasks are completed timely.</li><li>
Prepare and analyze accruals, prepaid amortization schedules, and other recurring accounting entries.</li><li>
Support financial reporting activities through account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entry support.</li><li>
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.</li><li>
Identify and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on close efficiency and process standardization.</li><li>
Support assigned facilities located across various U.S. markets and time zones.</li><li>
Assist with special projects, audits, and ad hoc financial analyses as needed.</li><li>
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA standards.</li></ul> 
What we&rsquo;re looking for
Applicants should have a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in accounting or finance. Additional qualifications include:
Experience<ul><li>
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.</li><li>
Experience preparing and posting journal entries in a high-volume environment.</li><li>
Strong month-end close experience required.</li><li>
Experience with accrual accounting and prepaid amortization required.</li><li>
General ledger accounting and account analysis experience required.</li><li>
Healthcare or hospital accounting experience preferred but not required.</li><li>
Shared services or multi-entity accounting experience preferred.</li></ul>
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of:<ul><li>
Journal entries</li><li>
Month-end close processes</li><li>
Accruals</li><li>
Prepaid expenses and amortization</li><li>
General ledger accounting</li><li>
Financial statement impact of transactions</li><li>
Ability to analyze accounting transactions and identify discrepancies.</li><li>
Experience with ERP systems (Oracle experience preferred).</li><li>
Ability to utilize reporting tools and perform transaction-level research.</li><li>
Intermediate Excel skills including formulas, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.</li></ul>

Salary Range: $57,805 - $78,036 per year.

Staff Accountant II, Journal Entry Accounting

The Chief Financial Officer provides leadership and direction to all financial departments for the overall fiscal responsibility of the hospital.
Other duties include:<ul><li>
Administers the general accounting, patient business services, including third party reimbursement, financial, and statistical reporting functions of the hospital in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures.</li><li>
Provides formal or informal direction in data processing, distributed systems, material management and medical records functions.</li><li>
Trains subordinates on the above areas and monitors performance to ensure fiscal responsibilities are fulfilled.</li><li>
Assists the CEO in the development of long and short-range hospital operations plans that may include service demand analyses, resources availability analyses and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions.</li><li>
Develops long and short-range operational and capital budgets, which are supported by the hospitals long and short range plans and objectives.</li><li>
Prepares cash flow analyses and budget variance analyses.</li><li>
Recommends budget modifications as required. Assists managers in the development of departmental budgets.</li><li>
Monitors, interprets and analyzes hospital financial performance in realizing established plans and objectives of the hospital.</li><li>
Identifies and reports undesirable trends and potential business opportunities and makes recommendations for action.</li><li>
Directs the preparation of internal financial reports including work papers for annual financial audit.</li><li>
Assures the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports and assures that the reports reliably reflect the financial position of the hospital.</li><li>
Assumes a lead role in analyzing and exploring means of reducing hospital operating costs and increasing revenues based on knowledge of market trends, financial reports and operating procedures.</li><li>
Responsible for direction and submission on a timely basis all financial data associated reports required by government and other regulated agencies including payroll tax reports, public disclosure reports and third party payor cost reports.</li></ul>

Education<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Accounting or Finance and the knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and verbal, interpersonal and quantitative skills normally acquired through completion of this degree is required.</li><li>
CPA or Master's Degree strongly preferred.</li></ul>
Experience<ul><li>
A minimum of 3 years of experience working at the CFO level in an acute-care hospital is required.</li><li>
Minimum of three years of progressive management experience in an investor-owned healthcare organization required.</li><li>
Must be a strong, hands-on and approachable leader who understands the value of being a team-player and have an outgoing and friendly personality.</li><li>
Must understand how to motivate and inspire staff to achieve optimal results, while keeping employee satisfaction high.</li></ul>

A Clinical Coordinator assists with the daily coordination of staffing and scheduling.
