Publications EditorJob Overview:We're seeking a talented Editor to join our expanding, multi-publication editorial team in Northeast Ohio.LifeStone Discipleship Ministries was founded with a mission:to inspire and empower disciples to create more disciples. Driven by our devotion to Christ, we are committed to making the Word of God more accessible to families, churches, and schools of all sizes and backgrounds. Our offerings include a range of biblically sound literature and resources, designed to help individuals and groups grow closer to Christ.LifeStone has been publishing Sunday school and Christian discipleship literature for 120 years. Included in our publications are an outstanding K-12 and adult Sunday school curriculum, a Christian school Bible curriculum series, and an innovative adult discipleship periodical. We are also expanding our reach into multiple digital and Christian education ventures. Our literature is broadly evangelical, holding to the historic tenets of the faith.This position is a ministry-oriented, family-friendly career job with competitive pay and benefits, holding opportunities for significant advancement.Responsibilities Include:<ul><li>Edit, and often write, manuscripts involving Bible exposition, biblical teaching, and Christian discipleship for children, teens, and sometimes adults</li><li>Correct errors of logic, accuracy, style, and grammar, conducting appropriate research as needed</li><li>Perform additional tasks necessary for the success of the organization</li></ul>Skills Include:<ul><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail</li><li>Logical reasoning</li><li>Creativity</li><li>Time management to meet deadlines</li><li>Readiness to receive instruction and constructive criticism</li><li>Familiarity with general rules of grammar and style</li><li>Familiarity with Chicago style and ability to follow an in-house style</li><li>Ability to edit with respect for the author&rsquo;s voice and intent</li><li>Theological accuracy and broad biblical knowledge</li><li>Willingness to avoid stirring up sectarian controversies</li><li>Ability to offer relevant and appropriate practical applications of Scripture and biblical teaching</li><li>Excellent written communication that is accessible to ordinary believers</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s, Graduate, or Post-Graduate degree in relevant field (English, journalism, biblical or ministry-related, etc.) and/or commensurate editorial experience</li><li>Skilled in grammar, proofreading, writing, and creative thinking, with the ability to craft and/or edit content tailored to different platforms and audiences</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Proven Christian commitment</li><li>Theologically conservative to fit our evangelical ethos and company culture (see LifeStone Discipleship Ministries Statement of Faith on our website)</li><li>Passion for others to know Christ and for the LifeStone mission</li><li>Preferred: Experience with preK-12 editing, writing, or teaching</li><li>Preferred: Proficiency in editorial and writing tools and platforms, especially Adobe InDesign</li></ul>Benefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>401(k) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Retirement plan</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
