<div>Job Description: 
<ul><li>
The school custodian keeps educational facilities clean, safe, and functional by performing daily cleaning of the school facility, ensuring a positive learning environment for students and staff through diligent upkeep and attention to detail that creates a conducive, healthy environment for learning.
</li><li>This is an afternoon position working 2pm - 10:30pm, 260 days, 8 hr/day</li></ul> 
Job Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>
Trash collection and removal, sweeping, mopping, and dusting</li><li>
Regular cleaning of plumbing fixtures, window glass, and stairways also required</li><li>
This job requires occasional heavy lifting and some knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances</li><li>
Must be able to climb a ladder to assist with changing ceiling tiles and light bulbs in ceiling fixtures</li><li>
Ability to make minor repairs to building interiors and exteriors as needed</li><li>
Assist with the removal of snow and ice anytime of the day or night to include weekends and holidays</li><li>
Assist with after school athletic events when requested</li><li>
Maintain playground spaces and equipment</li><li>
Perform related duties as assigned</li></ul> 
Job Qualifications: 
<ul><li>
Must have the ability to push, pull, lift and carry items weighing more than 10 pounds</li><li>
Must be able to bend over, reach downward or upward, and to wring a wet mop</li><li>
Must maintain storage areas in an organized fashion</li><li>
Maintain school facilities and grounds in condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety so that full educational use of the facility can take place</li><li>
Mechanical skills and previous working and maintenance experience with landscaping/janitorial equipment will be beneficial</li><li>
Floor care experience is beneficial</li><li>
Must be able to work alone or as part of a team</li><li>
High school diploma or equivalent and must have the ability to communicate with fellow employees and read English</li><li>
Knowledge of cleaning principles and safety procedures</li><li>
Ability to work independently and follow instructions</li><li>
Candidate must be motivated to assist routinely with staffing assorted after school events to include athletics, facility rentals, special events, etc. These events include evening and weekend availability.
</li><li>Candidate will attend and complete a Certified Pool Operator Certification Program</li><li>
Upon offer, applicant must complete and clear a drug screen and expanded criminal history background check for school personnel as required by IN state law.</li></ul></div>
