Job Summary<ul><li>
Splicing large &amp; small count Fiber Cables Mid Sheath Cuts.</li></ul>
Minimum Required Qualifications<ul><li>
Utilize proper techniques to splice fiber optic cable.</li><li>
Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables</li><li>
Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.</li><li>
Strong communication skills are required between the splicer and tech ops manager to address problems as soon as possible.</li><li>
Proper record keeping and be able to review cable records as necessary.</li><li>
Knowledge, understanding, and practice of safety regulations within OSHA, NESC, NEC, and other construction-related guidelines.</li><li>
Maintain equipment and vehicle to a high standard.</li><li>
Work indoors and outdoors as needed.</li><li>
Iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written.</li><li>
Coordinate with tech ops managers to verify and perform work as directed.</li><li>
Night work as needed for things like node splits.</li><li>
Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cables.</li><li>
Must know ribbon fiber.</li><li>
Must know fiber to the home.</li></ul>
Tasks Required by a Fiber Splicer<ul><li>
Utilize Fusion Splicer to splice Loose Tube &amp; Ribbon fiber cable.</li><li>
Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables</li><li>
Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.</li><li>

Telecommunications&mdash; Knowledge of transmission and CATV telecommunications systems.</li><li>
Public Safety&mdash; Knowledge of keeping the work area safe for the public.</li><li>
Computers and Electronics&mdash; Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware/software for keeping proper records.</li><li>
Mechanical&mdash; Knowledge of optical splicing equipment like a cleaver, splicer, and bucket truck</li></ul>
Work Conditions - Field environment, working in inclement weather; Flexibility of schedule.
